Technical Data Sheet

StoCrete SBR HD
Standard polymer bonding agent
and admixture based on styrene
butadiene rubber

Characteristics
Functionality Ease of application
Economical
Water resistance
Improves durability of mixes and can be used to produce weather-resistant systems for
external use
Excellent adhesion of mixes to concrete, plaster and masonry
Gives high tensile and flexural properties of mixes, which enhances thin applications
Improves resistance against mineral oil, dilute salts and many other chemicals due to
reduction in permeability
Reduces cracking through increased mortar flexibility

Application Apply by brush or spray as bonding aid.

Area of use
As a bonding slurries for floor toppings, renders and mortars to concrete substrate
As a bonding aid for tiles and slip bricks
As a polymer admixture for cementitious mixes for use in the repair of cracked or worn
concrete and cement mixes
Incorporated to produce modified floor screeds

Technical data
Data Criteria Test Standard Value Unit
2
Pull-out bond strength @28 days ASTM C190 : 85 1.10 N/mm
2
Slant shear bond strength @14 days ASTM C1042 : 91 2.80 N/mm

The values stated are average values. Due to the use of natural raw material in our
products, the actual value determined on an individual delivery may deviate slightly,
without compromising product suitability.

Application
Substrate preparation The substrate to be treated must be sound, cleaned and free from all contamination.
Traces of oil, greases, curing compound etc, must be removed from concrete surfaces
by using wire brush, scabbler or any other approved means.
Smooth substrates must be mechanically roughened.
Before applying StoCrete SBR HD, pre-wet the substrate thoroughly to reduce the
moisture loss. Free standing water should however be removed.

Material preparation Use as a Bonding Agent

When use as a bonding agent, StoCrete SBR HD is applied directly from container
without having to dilute with water. It is simply applied by brush or spray to ensure
thorough wetting of the surface.

Application
Material preparation (contd) Use a a Slurry Coat (Priming)
Apply on the still damp substrate a slurry coat consisting of 1 volume StoCrete SBR HD
to 3 volumes fresh cement.
The cement should be blended slowly into the liquids and then stirred frequently to offset
any settlement. Avoid puddling of the slurry coat.
The topping must be applied wet-on-wet. If the slurry dries out, it must be removed and
the clean substrate re-primed.

Curing Freshly placed screed or rendering incorporated with StoCrete SBR HD, should be kept
damp and not exposed to sunlight, rain or rapid air

Consumption The typical mix design table gives an approximate consumption of Stocrete SBR HD for
different type of mixes.
As a bonding agent, it covers about 6 - 8m2 /litre. For the bond slurry, the coverage is
approximately 2 - 3m2 /litre of slurry mix depending on the substrate.

Application temperature Minimum application temperature +8C

Maximum application temperature +45C

Cleaning of tools Tools must be cleaned immediately after use with clean water.

Delivery
Colour Milky white

Packing StoCrete SBR HD is available in 5 litre, 25 litre and 210 litre drum.

Storage
Storage life/conditions The shelf life of StoCrete SBR HD is approximately 12 months if stored in cool dry
conditions.

Special notes
Safety Precautions StoCrete SBR HD is non-flammable and non-toxic. However it should not be ingested
and if it comes into contact with the eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water and
seek medical treatment. StoCrete SBR HD is slightly alkaline so skin contact should be
avoided. Gloves and protective clothing should be worn.
