Wirelines are electric cables used to lower tools into oil and gas wells to collect data and perform interventions, while slicklines are thin cables used to deliver and retrieve tools but do not transmit data. Different tools can be used for logging, perforating, and other downhole operations.

A slickline is a single strand non-electric cable used to place and recover wellbore equipment. A wireline is an electric cable that can transmit data and power to downhole tools for both intervention and formation evaluation operations.

Tools used with wirelines include those for natural gamma ray detection, resistivity and sonic measurements, magnetic resonance, borehole seismic, cement bond and casing inspection, gamma ray perforating, and pressure setting.
