Subject: COMPARATIVE PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

Course Description:
It deals with the comparative analysis of the different philosophies of
education focused on those underlying Philippine education. It includes the study of
the relationship, functions and application of the major philosophies of education to
educational practice, policy formulation and national development direction in
education.
Cognitive Aims
1.1.1. Discuss with 90 % accuracy the nature, roles realms scope, bases ,
history and meaning of course related terms.
1.1.2. Familiarized themselves with the approaches to the comparative study
of the various educational philosophies
1.1.3. Identify and compare critically the major components proponents,
concepts, theories, aims and principles of such philosophies of education;
1.1.4. Explain with 90.5 confidence the reasons for the commonalities and
divergences of the educational philosophies being compared; and
1.1.5 Discuss the influence and relationships of the major philosophies of
education to the relevant current Philippine issues and problems.

1.2.1. Appreciate the contributions of Filipino thinkers to the development of
education philosophies;
1.2.2.Develop critical thinking skills;
1.2.3. Imbue educational philosophies needed to achieve educational goal
