INTRODUCTION

Good afternoon dear brothers and sisters in Christ. We

welcome you all to our celebration of the Holy Mass.
Today is a very special and memorable day that our dear
children in the community Claret School of Zambaonga City
are going to receive Jesus for the first time through Holy
Communion. The Holy Eucharist is essential in our daily life as
Christians for we are inspired by the saving act that comes
from our Lord Himself. Before Jesus offered His life for our
sake, He said, You are my friends-- a man can have no
greater love than to give his life for all. We are being
reminded of that friendship He shared with us; through the
Eucharist Jesus is with us and lives in us always. May we
ponder His love for us that the Eucharist may give us eternal
life as He promised.
We celebrate with joy this Eucharistic celebration with Fr.
Mauricio Ulep, CMF as presider.
We now spend a moment of silence to prepare ourselves for
the celebration. (pause.)
Please rise.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
All: AMEN.
P:

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and
the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All: AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.

P:
Dear children, welcome to this celebration of the Holy
Eucharist. Together with your parents, guardians and friends we
joyfully celebrate your first communion with Jesus in His Body and
Blood. Jesus in His generosity and love gave Himself for you so
that you will have the courage and strength in becoming good
sons and daughters of the Father. May this special occasion brings
you blessing from Jesus. May you also learn how to share
yourselves to others, specially those who are in need.
Our dear parents and guardians, as witnesses to the first
communion of these children, may you be a living example for
them. Show them how to be a child who is truly united with the
Body and Blood of Jesus. May you become like Jesus who is always
willing to give Himself to others. May your act of service and care
lead them to understand the true meaning of the Holy Eucharist.

Blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and saints,

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING

First Holy Communion

A reading from the book of the prophet Zechariah

Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell
among you, says the Lord. Many nations shall join themselves to
the Lord on that day, and they shall be his people, and he will
dwell among you, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has
sent me to you. The Lord will posses Judah as his portion in the
holy land, and he will again choose Jerusalem. Silence, all
mankind, in the presence of the Lord! for he stirs forth from his
holy dwelling.
The Word of the Lord.
C:

THANKS BE TO GOD.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: (to be sung)

Ang Panginoon ang aking Pastol, wala kong dapat
ikapangambang anuman.
SECOND READING
A reading from the letter of Paul to the Ephesians
Praised be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has
bestowed on us in Christ every spiritual blessing in the heavens! God
chose us in him before the world began, to be holy and blameless in
his sight, to be full of love; likewise he predestined us through Christ
Jesus to be his adopted sons--such was his will and pleasure--that all
might praise the divine favour he has bestowed on us in his beloved.
In him we were chosen; for in the decree of God, who administers
everything according to his will and counsel, we were predestined to
praise his glory by being the first to hope in Christ.
The Word of the Lord.

C:

THANKS BE TO GOD.

C:

PLEASE RISE TO HONOR THE HOLY GOSPEL.

First Holy Communion

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Alleluia (to be sung)

GOSPEL
P:

The Lord be with you.

All: AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.

P:

A reading form the holy Gospel according to Matthew

All: GLORY TO YOU, O LORD.

Jesus was addressing the crowds when his mother and his
brothers appeared outside to speak with him. Someone said to
him, Your mother and your brothers are standing out there and
they wish to speak to you. He said to the one who had told him,
Who is my mother? Who are my brothers? Then extending his
hands to his disciples, he said, There are my mother and my
brothers. Whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is brother
and sister and mother to me.
The gospel of the Lord.
All: PRAISE TO YOU LORD, JESUS CHRIST.
C:

PLEASE BE SEATED.

HOMILY : (by Fr Mauricio Ulep, CMF)

NICENE CREED (if needed)
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and
earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with
the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for
our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit

First Holy Communion

was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake
he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was
buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the
Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right
hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living
and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who
proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and
the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the
prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one
Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the
resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Prayers of the Faithful
PRIEST: With joy of being sent by the Spirit of Jesus to proclaim
the
kingdom, sharing humankinds joys and hopes, let us
ask
the Lord Jesus to strengthen us to carry out our mission,
imploring Him in His mercy:
Give us your Spirit to respond with love and faithfulness
1.

Lord, aware that evangelization is our service to people, to

the world, to the Church and to the building of the kingdom;
grant that we may increase our missionary evangelization
in the style of the Apostles, attending to what is most
urgent, opportune and effective. We pray.

2.

Lord, your becoming human and living among us requires of

us an uncultured evangelization; may we have minds and
hearts open to the people we must serve, to be able to
transmit the Gospel message in terms of their own cultural
values. We pray.

First Holy Communion

3.

Lord, our Congregation is present in areas where gross

inequities and injustices destroy human dignity; may we opt
for a prophetic and liberating evangelization and through our
life and our words may bring the light of the Gospel in all its
saving power. We pray.

4.

Lord, you made St. Anthony Mary Claret a man, who

perceived and proclaimed the plan of salvation in the
concrete circumstance of his times; help us to be a sign and
a force that liberates people from any kind of slavery that
hinders their communion with God and others. We pray.

5.

Lord, you formed a missionary community in Zamboanga

City; grant that Claretian Missionaries in Zamboanga City
together with mission partners and collaborators may
continue to minister the people in need of mercy. We pray.

PRIEST: Heavenly Father, send the Holy Spirit upon us so that

we
may hear your Word in faith and fulfill it in our lives.
Give us hearts that are joyful and obedient to your holy will. We
ask this through Christ our Lord.
ALL:

Amen

All: AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
P:
Lift up your hearts.
All: WE LIFT THEM UP TO THE LORD.
P:
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: IT IS RIGHT AND JUST.
P:

Father, it is our duty and salvation, always and everywhere

to give you thanks, all powerful and living God, through
Christ our Lord. From all eternity you were pleased to decree
that the Blessed Virgin Mary should be joined in a unique
way with Christ your Son in the work of salvation.

Wholeheartedly embracing your saving will, she received

your Word and his teaching with joy, and kept them faithfully in
her heart. Bowing to your holy will, she stood at the altar of the
cross, where a sword of sorrow pierced her heart as she
lovingly consented to the sacrifice of the Victim she had borne.
Now, taken up body and soul into heaven, she still watches
over us, the brothers and sisters of her Son, with a mothers
love,
consoling us in our difficulties and dangers, and guiding
us toward our heavenly home. We praise you, Lord, with all the
angels and saints, as we join in their unending hymn of
praise:
