The 4 terminals for the supply voltage are located on the left upper housing side.
The two +24V terminals as well as the two 0V terminals are interconnected on the UC100/101.
The local bus power supply is diverted from the above mentioned DC/DC converter and has
the following parameters:
The internal voltages for the internal supply of the UC-101 are generated by switching
controllers from the above mentioned DC/DC converter. It is specified as follows:
5.1.2
The battery powers the RealTimeClock and the SRAM in case of missing supply voltage.
The lithium battery normally used has a nominal voltage of 3V and a capacity of 950mAh.
18
The battery can be accessed for replacement through the front of the housing.
Battery service life: Normally operated, the integrated lithium battery has a service life
of about 2 years (standby operation approx. 12 months).During operation the battery is
monitored via software.
1. Battery insertion: The battery must be inserted with the 24V DC computer power
supply switched on, to avoid a high backup current and an extremely shortened battery
lifetime.

Voltage Monitoring
UC-100
If the 24V DC supply voltage drops below 19V, a power-fail signal is generated that
notifies the CPU of a power failure with a prewarning time of at least 8 ms and
depending on the software allows responses such as the saving of relevant data.
The computer voltages 5V, 3.3V and the voltage of the battery can be monitored by the
software via a monitor module.

5.1.3.2
UC-101
The secondary 15V for the local INTERBUS protected against overload. A power-fail
signal is generated.
The hardware is reset if the secondary 1.5V, 2.5V, 3.3V or the 5V is no longer
maintained.
If the 24V DC supply voltage drops below 19V, a power-fail signal is generated that
notifies the CPU of a power failure with a prewarning time of at least 8 ms and
depending on the software allows responses such as the saving of relevant data.
The computer voltages 1.5V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, 15V and the voltage of the battery can be

Although the Ethernet interface X2 supports all 10/100 Base-T operating modes, it has
been configured by the software so as to allow 100 Mbaud full-duplex operation. The autonegotiation is then switched off.
The usual communication partner is an Ethernet switch. An untwisted patch cable is needed
for the connection. The switch should also be permanently set to 100 Mbaud / full-duplex /
no auto-negotiation at this port.
Interface controller is the FEC (FastEthernetController) of the processor. This processor is
connected to the 10/100 Base-T Ethernet via the physical layer module (PHY)
LXT971A.The configuration interface between the processor and the PHY is MII (Media
Independent Interface).
The data of the Ethernet port (MAC address, IP address) is saved as non-volatile in the
serial EEPROM.

5.2.3
The UC-100/101 has two RS-232 interfaces at X3 and X4. Since only a two-wire cable
(RxD, TxD) is used, the Xon/Xoff protocol must be used. The interface is configured by the
software.
(Usually the setting is
for UC-100 9600 baud / 8 bits / no parity / 1 stop-bit and
for UC-101 38400 baud / 8 bits / no parity / 1 stop-bit.)
The interface controllers are the internal SMCs of the MPC-857T processor.
Interface controllers for the UC-101 are the peripheral serial controllers of the MPC-5200B
processor.
Be careful not to connect the RS-232 cable of the X3 and X4 interfaces to the Ethernet X2
interface.
5.2.4
The UC-100/101 has an RS 422 communication interface at X6. Since only two signals
(RxD, TxD) are used, the Xon/Xoff protocol must be used.
Interface controller for the UC-100 is the internal SCC1 of the MPC857T processor.
Interface controllers for the UC-101 are the peripheral serial controllers of the MPC-5200B
processor.
Be careful not to interchange the cables of the RS-422 interface X6 with the cables of the
INTERBUS remote bus interface X12.Otherwise there is a danger of damage to the
subassembly.

The INTERBUS section of the UC-100/101 for the field bus connection of the decentralized
control module has the following features:
An INTERBUS Master.
A diagnostic display for fast bus troubleshooting and commissioning support on site.
A RS-422 port for the field bus as a remote bus via a DSUB 9-pin plug.
A serial RS-232 diagnostic interface for service and diagnostic functions (RJ11 jacks,
assignment analogous to PCI.IBM-1, MS2000 and Hirschmann Switch).
Note:
The INTERBUS master core function has been implemented by means of an add-on board
from Phoenix Contact, to ensure the greatest possible compatibility (in particular for future
new software versions) with the INTERBUS standard.
The diagnostic display as a module is also a Phoenix product and is already used in many
Phoenix activation systems (e.g. the S5 subassembly) in a functionally compatible way.
5.3.1
This watchdog timer can monitor the data transfer with the host computer.Only switch-on is
possible by the software. If the triggering does not occur, an interrupt is generated for the
24
INTERBUS master. The INTERBUS master then responds by resetting all outputs, among
other measures.
The LED HF is set!
5.3.2
INTERBUS Reset
The INTERBUS is reset either by the UC-100/101 hardware reset or by a software reset. The
MPM is not deleted immediately after the reset. The data remain in the MPM until the
INTERBUS master checks the MPM during the reset test routine, after which they are
deleted.
5.3.3
The MPM occupies 64 kByte. The bytes are arranged in the Motorola format (Big
Endian). The memory sector is assigned by Phoenix Contact.See also the documents listed
in the Appendix.
5.4

5.4.1
A driver program must form the interface between the application programs and the
INTERBUS master. See also the documents from Phoenix Contact listed in the Appendix.
The basic functions of the driver program are:
5.4.2

The program has extensive options for planning and diagnosing the INTERBUS such as:
Detection and localization (Diagnostic) of errors in the system and the option of
message recording and statistical error assessment
The CMD also contains a library of firmware commands and error codes.
For operating the CMD, you must connect the serial port (RS-232) of the PC to the
diagnostic interface X11 (RS-232) of the UC-100/101 INTERBUS master.
According to the RS-232 specification the cable must not be longer than 15 m.
IBS VME6H SC/I-T must be set at present as the bus activation type.
5.4.5
The CPU of the UC-100/101 communicates via the MPM (Multi Port Memory) with the
INTERBUS master of the UC-100/101. Depending on the software of the CPU, all commands
implemented in the firmware of the INTERBUS master can be executed through this channel.
The CPU of the UC-100/101 can in turn be accessed through either the RS-232 (X11) or
the Ethernet interface (X2)The software of the UC-100/101 can therefore communicate with
the outside world through the press network.
5.4.6
INTERBUS-Firmware Update
The INTERBUS master contains firmware that defines the internal and external
characteristics of the interface module. Each interface module contains a serial interface
X11 (RS-232) through which the internal firmware can be updated. This process is referred
27
to as a firmware update. The firmware must match the INTERBUS master (that is, the master
firmware for a Siemens S7 control system differs from the firmware for a MAN Roland UC100/101). The updating generally occurs from a PC by means of a special program.
During updating the supply voltage of the
UC-100/101 must never be switched off. Otherwise there is a danger that the subassembly
will no longer be functional.
Each UC-100/101 receives a sticker on the rating plate at production, indicating the revision
status of the boot firmware (e.g. 4.66).
