ANNUAL CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE

Its time to get ready for the annual Christmas Giving
Tree. The GIVING TREE has become a tradition at
Desert Spring. This year, we will be working with the
Early Head Start program for infants and toddlers, ages 0
-3 and their siblings. We will also have 12 children from
the Walter Hoving Home, The parents will provide the
caseworkers with gift requests and clothing sizes for
their children of all ages. Then, their names and
wishes will be shared on a Christmas tree in the
church narthex for anyone wishing to provide the
gifts. On Sunday, November 23 the Giving Tree with
the childrens names and their wishes will be in the Narthex for those wanting to get a jump on their Christmas
shopping. Additional names will be added to the tree on
the following two Sundays. You may pick tags for one or
several children. Then after purchasing the gifts, wrap
them, tag them, and place them in the clear plastic bags
that will be provided. All gifts must be brought to the
church by Sunday, December 14, for this is the day that
we will sort and organize the gifts. We will need lots of
help sorting the gifts on Sunday and delivering all of
the gifts to the families on Monday, December 15.

friends, and invite someone new to this great Christmas

The cost of our Christmas Musical has been underwritten
by a DSUMC family for a couple of reasons:
1. During this Christmas Season, our donor wants to provide an opportunity for families to spend time together.
2. Our new Education Wing is very important to our children, youth & church family. Money from this musical
goes toward the construction of this new building.

DEBORAH CIRCLE OF
THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN will

TO SLEEP CAMPAIGN

You can provide a Homeless Family with a comfortable

bed and help them in their transition to regular housing.
Desert Spring United Methodist Church will Host Family
Promise Guests for 4 weeks in 2015. Weve been blessed
in the past to borrow air beds from the Southern Nevada
Walk to Emmaus Community, and now its time that we
find our own resources to help in this effective ministry.
Our recommended donation of $65 to DSUMC/Family
Promise provides a bed for the 4 weeks of safe sleeping at
DSUMC for someone dedicated to changing their life .
Your donation allows that person to sleep safely with their
Mom, Son, Daughter or Dad; a huge benefit and quite a
change from the policy at local Homeless Shelters. Maybe
you are not able to spend $65.00 right now but still would
like to help. Its not critical to stick to the recommended
amount. With a donation of any amount, you can still be a
part of the success of Family Promise here at Desert Spring
UMC. For details, contact our Family Promise Coordinator Bob Lathrop 702-703-4776 [email protected].
Make your checks payable to Desert Spring UMC and be
sure to write Family Promise in the note line on your
check. Our Family Promise Guests Thank You For Living
Out Your Faith!

PLEASE HELP US PREPARE

A WELCOMING SPACE
FOR OUR WORSHIPERS
ON SUNDAY MORNINGS!
God sends hundreds of people to Desert
Spring Church every Sunday morning to
worship. Please help us welcome them by ensuring our
property is clean and beautiful! We are recruiting a
Sunday Morning Prep Team to help. Team members
will arrive Sundays at 7:00am and complete a few odd
jobs around the campus.
Here is a sample:
-Leaf blowing of the patios and walkways
-Placing of signs and patio furniture
-Trash pickup at the overflow parking area
-General final touches to the property
Most jobs will take place outdoors. Contact Ann Hardy at
(702)540-1644 or [email protected].
Thank you so much for your consideration in joining
this team.
