AIS Symbology
Selected target
Dangerous target
Lost target
Description of symbol
An isosceles, acute-angled triangle shall be used
as AIS target symbol. The apex shall be oriented
with the heading of the target.
The AIS target shows:
- vector (speed and course)
- heading
- rate of turn indication (if
available) to display actual
course changes
A square is to be used.
The target is displayed with vector (speed and
course), heading and rate of turn indication (if
available)
A flashing equilateral triangle, apex top, shall be
used to mark the target. After acknowledgement,
flashing shall cease.
The target shall be displayed with vector (speed
and course), heading and rate of turn indication
(if available).
A flashing diamond shall be used. After
acknowledgement, flashing shall cease. The
diamond shall be formed from two equal triangles
(one apex up, the other apex down).
