DLSU should move some non-sensitive services to the cloud to realize cost savings. Moving services like admissions and email to the cloud could help reduce IT infrastructure costs by eliminating the need for standalone servers and software. This could save DLSU an estimated $40,388.92 per year. However, services containing sensitive information may be better kept on-premises due to security and privacy concerns with cloud computing. DLSU could adopt a hybrid cloud approach, moving some services to the cloud while keeping sensitive systems on local servers.

Should DLSU move to the cloud? DLSU should move some to cloud computing. There are several advantages of cloud computing such as it drives down IT costs. This is because of the elimination of funding the stand-alone software and servers. Furthermore, there is an unlimited storage space and automatic software integration DLSU will move to cloud. Transferring to cloud computing may help DLSU resolve issues on room space as there would be a spare room in which can be convertible to a classroom. Since DLSU is composed of a huge number of members, operating in cloud computing is advantageous due to its scalability to accommodate a large number of users. Also, there would be an easier and efficient back-up and disaster recovery of the files. However, cloud computing is being questioned due to security, privacy, and compliance. Therefore, I suggest that DLSU must not move all its services in the cloud especially if it contains sensitive information. DLSU can move its Admissions and Financial Aid services in the cloud just like what Boston College did. Also, DLSU can use Google Apps for Education for its students and employees email and collaboration tools just like New York University did to its systems. DLSU Now The Information Technology Center of DLSU-Manila maintains the following Information Technology facilities: Networking Equipment 3Com Total Control Remote Access Servers (RAS) 802.11b/g wireless LAN (WiFi) devices. Cost and Benefit Analysis It shows that an educational institution can significantly cut its cost when it shifted to cloud computing. More specifically, the cost and benefit analysis below shows that DLSU can save approximately by $40,388.92 hosting its services in the cloud.
