Co-Teaching Reflection Questions
Write your response below each question using the style requirements as written in the
syllabus.
1. Describe the co-teaching strategy you and your mentor teacher selected and the
reasons why it was selected.
The co-teaching strategy that my mentor teacher and I selected was Team
Teaching. We chose this strategy because we wanted to be both actively involved
with the lesson. My mentor teacher and I both had given each other parts of the
lesson to instruct, however, we were allowed to input anything that comes as the
lesson is progressing. We thought this strategy worked well because the pressure
was divided between both teachers.
2. Briefly describe the lesson and share two examples of students successes and two
challenges. Use evidence from your assessment tool and student work to support
your reasons.
The lesson is a continuation from Mr. Aquinos acrostic poem. We integrated
technology to create a multi-modal lesson. The students were assigned a word from
their Barbers Point acrostic poem. Students tasks were to use their given word into
a sentence that reflects something about their school then illustrate their sentence
through a drawing. Lastly, each student audio recorded their sentence while showing
their illustrations.
First example of students success is the process of creating their sentences.
The students were able to generate wonderful sentences that reflected their school.
Many students even honored the schools staff by writing about them. For example,

one sentence was about the schools custodians maintaining the cleanliness of their
school.
Second example of students success is their willingness to work with others.
Throughout the process of constructing their sentences and illustrations, each of the
students collaborated with their group mates. Also, they made sure each of their
group mates ideas were taken into consideration and contributed to their task. For
example, I overheard groups around the room designating who will draw this part
and who will draw that part. I found it very refreshing how engaged they were at the
lesson and their ability to work with other people.
First example of students challenge is the process of audio recording their
sentence. Many of them werent comfortable audio recording because they have not
done anything like this before. Throughout the audio recording process, many of
them took many tries. For example, one group lacked fluency on the first try, on the
second try they lacked expression and third try they lacked volume. Since there are
a lot of requirements for this audio recording, some students had a hard time
performing all of them.
Second example of students challenge is audio recording with their partners.
Although they were able to work well with each other with their sentences and
illustrations, they had a hard time performing their audio recordings with their partner.
For example, a few of the groups kept rerecording their audio because of one
person outdoing their volume against their partner. Some students wanted to be
louder than their partner in order to hear their voice more in the recording. Another
example, some groups had trouble reading their sentence together in unison.

3. What were successes in your co-teaching experience? What would you and your
mentor teacher do differently?
There were numerous successes in my co-teaching experience. One example of
our success is our communication with each other. My mentor teacher and I
communicated very well throughout the lesson whether itd be before, during and
after each day of our lesson. We were able to talk about how each day went and the
successes and challenges that we saw with the students. Another success would be
the flow of each day of the lesson. Even though, there were gaps of the lessons, we
were able to make a good transition after each one and review what we completed
in the previous lesson.
The only thing that my mentor teacher and I would do differently is to allow
students to explore the audio recording with their group. This would have made the
students feel more comfortable with audio recording and lessen the pressure and
nervousness with the exposure of audio recording.
4. Describe how this co-teaching experience will prepare you for establishing collegial
relationships and improving your professional dispositions.
This co-teaching experience has been wonderful. This experience will help me
prepare for establishing collegial relationship by knowing whats expected. It taught
me that in order to work with others, each member must present time and effort.
Also, it showed me how communication plays a huge role throughout any
collaboration with others. My co-teaching experience was successful because my
mentor teacher and I collaborate throughout the process of the lesson. It definitely

improved my professional dispositions because of the learning that I have gained
throughout the experience.
