The Terberg Techniek Modulair Axle Conversion (TT MAC ) system is a conversion kit for mounting and/or steer an additional pusher or tag axle on Volvo trucks. The system offers lifting functionality, while the axle is steered electronically-hydraulically. Due to its modular characteristics a full scope of axle configurations on the truck is available. The construction is mainly based on the Volvo RAD-A4 suspension and uses therefore a big amount of original Volvo parts, such as, air- bellows, stabilizer, V-stay, reaction arms and brackets as well as the hydraulic steering valve. This has huge advantages in the after- sales market segment. Service and maintenance as well as parts availability are backed up by the reliable Volvo network. The construction, steering and suspension are fully integrated in the vehicle. The system is running in several countries in Europe and also in (heavy) mining operation in South America. For an extra 10 tonnes of payload the SISU axle is an excellent choice. This axle is used in military vehicles and has proved its reliability over and over again. Technical permissible load is 10.000kg, and a static axle load capacity of 33.000kg for container handling purposes. The suspension has 4 air-bellows which are connected to the other axles air bellows for a perfect weight distribution. The system can also be mounted on leaf suspended vehicles. Standard included is a lifting device for lifting the axle when the vehicle is not fully loaded. The Terberg Techniek axle will come down automatically when the vehicle is loaded. Optional, an air-dump functionality can be added for more traction on slippery ground. The steering system is controlled by Terberg software and a mix of high-quality Terberg Techniek parts (steering cylinder) and original Volvo parts (hydraulic steering valve). Steering geometry, based on the vehicle configuration, is adapted by the software, which makes it easy to position the additional axle on several places and expand the scope of application. The axle steers only when necessary, when lifted the axle will point in the straight forward position. Also the steering angle is depending on the vehicle speed. At high speeds, for instance, a tag axle will not steer anymore, to increase drivability and stability of the vehicle. Terberg Techniek fits not only the axle, but can also be a partner in preparing the vehicle for a specific body. During our modification it is easy to take body builders wishes into consideration. Also Terberg Techniek delivers assistance in the homologation/legislation process, or take over the legislation proceeding completely.
The Terberg Techniek axle modifications are designed from a truck-point-of-view, delivering you a reliable and efficient automotive solution.
