Demand for electricity continued to expand. In 1H12 electricity demand in Thailand picked up rapidly at 8.8% YoY, compared with the average of 4.6% over the past ten years
Investment in transmission and distribution systems will remain substantial. As indicated in PDP 2010, the investments for the main electricity authorities during 2010-20F is budgeted to reach THB328 bn.

Having entered into the renewable energy business since 2010, GUNKUL has actively sought and acquired PPA of renewable power plants and will continue to add PPA to its portfolios at a more aggressive pace
PDP-2010 is promoting greater use of renewable energy in power generation. The proportion of renewable energy is forecasted to rise from 21% in 2012 to 29% in 2030. EGAT will offer an adder to the base tariff rates as an incentive to encourage the participation of private operators to build renewable energy power plants
