Before The Atomic Bomb
In 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked and the United States of America was dragged into war, siding with the Allies powers. The idea of the Atomic Bomb started in 1905, when Albert Einstein came up with the Theory of Revelation: Where he stated that a large amount of energy could be released through a small amount of matter; E=mc2 (energy = mass times the speed of light squared). The building and dropping of the bomb changed the course of history, economically, socially, and through weapons and inventions. All these things that we have today have to do with the Atomic Bomb changing the world. It also changed World War Two in the fact that it helped end the war, because we don't know if Japan would have ever stopped fighting us. Yet sadly, it cost many lives.
atom bomb, atomic bomb, A-bomb, fission bomb, plutonium bomb. a nuclear weapon in which large amounts of energy is released by nuclear fission(splitting the nuclei of a heavy element like uranium 235Now, this project was extremely top secret. In fact, it was so top secret that the
Vice President himself, didn't know about it. No one, except for the President as well as the employees, who were building and creating it, knew about it until a few days before it was dropped on Japan. and/or plutonium 239) When the making of the atomic
bomb was in proccess it took about the cource of seven years. It ended up costing well over $190 billion for the whole project. Many were employed to make this huge project. To be more pisific it was around 130,000 people. It changed the whole ecconomy in america. Yet many jobs were created it cost a lot to build. The reason that the Americans built the bombs is because they were worried that other contries-such as Germany-would get to it and would hurt the US. The leader of the project was Samuel T. Cohen. If this project was not created the war would most likely remain "untouched". Not only because of the military values, but also because this city had seen little bombing and the Americans wanted to see the full power as well, as show how much damage it is to Japan. On August 6, 1945, the first choice target, Hiroshima,
was having no problems with weather. At 8:15 a.m. (local time), the American's dropped "Little Boy", the nuclear bomb.
Nagasaki is a minor military port of importance and has a large population. It is also surrounded by hills making it a perfect bombing area. Like with Hiroshima, this city also had not seen much bombing. The first choice target for this bombing run had been Kokura. Since the fog over Kokura prevented the observing of the target, the American's continued on the second target. At 11:02 a.m., "Fat Man," the nuclear bomb was dropped over Nagasaki. The impacts of the two bombs that were dropped into two towns of Japan left scars in history. Over 70,000 people died and that's just from burns or radition from the bomb. Almost every building near the drop zone fell over and only a few stood and became memorials. These memorials will forever remind people from all over the country of the terrible things weapons can do. In 0.034 seconds, the Atomic Bomb had spread over 100 meters. Which basically means it traveled one sixteenth of a mile in a blink of the eye.The explosion of the test bomb was massive and the equivalent to 18,000 tons of TNT. It was a success. They bombed Hiroshima and it left a large mushroom cloud. Fortunately, no Americans were injured, which means, the plane was able to turn around in time so it was not disrupted by the bomb's blast of sudden force in the air. Three days after the attack on Hiroshima, there was a second flight with an atomic bomb. That second bomb, Fat Man, was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. Technically, the target city was Kokura. But when the bomber Bock's car arrived over Kokura on August 9, 1945, the city proved, overclouded. Because Major Charles Sweeney from Bock's car was told to bomb on sight, he had no choice but to choose the alternative target: Nagasaki. Hiroshima was chosen because it was a large port city with an army base. These sites will forever be scared by these bombs that we placed among them. The atomic bomb killed many people, 90,000-166,000 people died in Hiroshemia, 60,000-80,000 in Nagaski. for those who died on the explosion, 60% died from flash or flame burn, 30% from falling debres and 10% from other causes. From short term death: 15%-20% died from radiation sickness, 20%-30% form burns, 50%-60% from other causes and injuries.
Albert Einstein gave the idea to the Americans instead of the Germans because of the thought of Hitler having his hands on it. He also helped them build it. was the first of it kind, and the last. It was so harmful, that people believed that it was to greatly powerful, so it was decided not to be used again. As a result of that decision, there was nuclear warfare. Albert Einstein gave the idea to the Americans instead of the Germans because of the thought of Hitler having his hands on it. He also helped them build it. The cause of this bomb was Japan refused to surrender after Germany was defeated. the US thought that if they dropped the bomb, it would save more American soilders lives. Yes, it did kill thousands ( around 199,000), but it most likely saved more lives than it took. If America didn't drop the bombs they would of have had to try to take over Japan which would mean the storm of the Japanese country and "Total War". Although many people think the bomb was a good idea, it did kill a lot of people in the process. Japan had to rebuild the cities and they lost many lives. This led to nuclear warfar being welcomed into the list of millitary weapons. These bombs changed the war and the face of America forever, and America is now feared by many difIt ended the war, but it started the new faces of the world, mostly for America. The US was considered by most the most powerful country in the world. This is a turing poing itself, after the Civil War people thought that a democracy was too chaotic. Now the Americans have shown others that they were not afraid to retaliate.ferent countries who are still dealing with the hardships of all the families and people killed. After the bomb was dropped, Japan resigned. At noon on August 15th, 1945, the Japanese ruler, Emporer Hirohito, announced his country's surrender on radio broadcast, signaling the official end to the war. The atomic Bomb called the "Little Boy" was dropped on August 6th and the chaos didn't subside untill the 9th This Bomb had been dropped at 08:15 A.M. on Hiroshima, Japan.
Hiroshima was a target mainly for Hiroshima Castle, which was the base of some military operatins, along with some military bases around Hiiroshima.
Japan refused to resign. The atomic bomb "Fat Man" was dropped on August 9th, after "little boy". It was dropped at 11:02 PM. on Nagasaki, Japan.
The original target for the plutonium bomb was the city of Kokura, but the city's skies were very cloudy, so they couldn't see a clear target. That led the bomber's pilot, Major Charles Sweeney, to drop it on their secondary target, Nagasaki. The Germans were defeated, having taken serious damage on what we now call D-Day, but Japan refused to surrender, making way for the golden opportunity for America to use it's newest mass-dest rGrenades did do damage, but nothing compaired to the atomic bomb that could level out a whole city. Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativitly (E=mc2) is revisited, it was made more popular with the construction of the atomic bomb. The explosion could be seen from over ten miles away. uction weapon. By the beginning of World War II, almost every (United States) infantry man held a gun called the M1 Granade. It was good for sniping and long distance range, but simple enough to be able to learn quickly. In time, the world would know different destructive powers, (such as the nuclear warfare that followed the atomic explosion), but the closest thing before the atomic bomb to that of an explosion of somewhat high scale, was the grenade. (commonly nicknamed, The Pineapple) A classic WWII grenade had a steel outside canister, with a fuse connected to a pin and safety ring. Inside lay (the other end of the fuse) black powder and thin steel cups that welded the metal together once the powder was placed inside. This was used as an idea for the Atomic Bomb, yet the power and force exceeded its captive area and thus the design was never used. This is a picture of what the would have used before the atomic bombs were known of. Some people ask, "Did the bomb break the U.S. Bank?" Not necessarily. Somehow, the American's came up with 2 billion dollars for the price, albeit, only ten percent was for the actual 'making of the bomb'. When America was building the bomb, they had to hire scientists from all over our country, and others that weren't. They were watched closely, to make sure that they didn't sell out the Manhattan Project. Little Boy and Fat man costed around 2 billion dollars in building and had around 200 scientists and builders working on the bombs. 90% of the money went into the factories and employes that means that only 10% went into the actual bomb. this amount of money made a huge diffrence in the economy, but if opened many jobs!
Living in poverty, some American, back-water streets were crowded with the poorer folk, living in poverty came naturally. Sometimes it's a wonder that America ever pulled off coming up with Two Billion dollors for the Manhatten Project! As citizens, the turning point was that more jobs were able to open up for the better communty. This helped our economy grow in standpoints from three to ten percent. Not much now, but a big difference then! Video by SunsetMan91 on Youtube.com The video shows a test atomic bomb like Fat man and/or Little boy blowing up. This video portrays an explosion to one quite similar to the Hiroshima dropping. Consider it like a visual aid, when picturing the devastating powers of the Atomic Bomb.
