6ELTswagelok+Tube Weld Fittings For High Temp Use
Swagelok now offers Swagelok tube fitting and tube socket and butt weld fittings rated for use at temperatures up to 1200F (648C). Both straight and shape configurations machined from 316 stainless steel bar stock material meeting the general requirements of ASTM A479, but with additional controls on carbon content (0.04 % minimum) and grain size (6 or coarser). Available in 1/4 to 1 inch and 6 to 25 mm sizes in a variety of configurations. Ordered using the material designator 6ELT, as specified in ASTM A479, Product Marking section. Same reliable Swagelok tube fitting design: o Live-loaded, advanced geometry two-ferrule design. o Easy to install. o Consistent gaugeability upon initial installation.
To calculate allowable working pressures at temperatures for Swagelok tube fittings of 6ELT material used with 316H or 316/316L dual certified tubing: 1. From Table 3 or 4 for stainless steel tubing in Swagelok Tubing Data, MS-01-107, find the size (Tube OD and Tube Wall Thickness) of the tubing to be used and the working pressure for that tubing size. 2. Multiply the working pressure by the appropriate elevated-temperature rating factor listed in Table A to determine the working pressure at elevated temperature.
Note: Seizing may occur at temperatures approaching 1000F (537C), preventing disassembly and reassembly of tube fittings. Use a high-temperature thread lubricant to ease removal of the nut.
To calculate allowable working pressures at temperatures for Swagelok weld fittings of 6ELT material used with 316H tubing: 1. Using the Swagelok Weld Fittings catalog, MS-01-149, determine the allowable working pressure at ambient temperature for each fitting. 2. Multiply the allowable working pressure by the appropriate elevated-temperature rating factor listed in Table A for 316H to determine the working pressure at elevated temperature. Elevated-temperature factors listed for 316H apply to both 316H tubing and 6ELT bar material.
Note: Special weld fittings with an increased wall thickness can be provided where higher working pressures are required.
Ordering Information
6ELT tube and weld fittings are available in a wide variety of configurations. See the Swagelok Gaugeable Tube Fittings and Adapter Fittings catalog, MS-01-140, or the Weld Fittings catalog, MS-01-149, for standard configurations and ordering numbers. To order a 6ELT tube or weld fitting, use 6ELT as the material designator. Example: 6ELT-400-6 See also Suggested Ordering Information in Swagelok Tubing Data when ordering stainless steel tubing for use with Swagelok tube and weld fittings. For needle valve products rated to 1200F (648C), see the Swagelok Severe-Service UnionBonnet Needle Valve catalog, MS-01-168.
Safe Product Selection When selecting a product, the total system design must be considered to ensure safe, troublefree performance. Function, material compatibility, adequate ratings, proper installation, operation, and maintenance are the responsibilities of the system designer and user. Caution: Do not mix or interchange parts with those of other manufacturers.
