sciFLEX Quick Start

PRE-POWER UP CHECKLIST
Wash bottle filled....................................................................................... CHECK
Waste bottle empty .................................................................................. CHECK
System liquid bottle filled to appropriate level.................................... CHECK
• Use filtered (0,22µm) freshly degased millipore water
• The system liquid surface and the nozzle tip (when in front of the camera station)

must be on the same level.

sciFLEXARRAYER stage is clear and free of obstacles ....................... CHECK


All cover hood doors ............................................................................. CLOSED
• The doors must be closed to activate the magnetic door sensors.

Emergency stop switches ....................................................................... ARMED


• The emergency stop switches must be pulled out (one in the S3; two in S5/S11).

POWERING UP
Multi-outlet power strip switch ........................................................ SWITCH ON
"Clunk"-sound of the spotter ................................................................... CHECK
• After ~20 seconds of powering the axes (S5/S11 only), a distinct sound is audible.

Computer ......................................................................................... SWITCH ON


sciFLEX Software ................................................................. START INIT AXES
Software started without error messages ............................................. CHECK

FLUIDIC SETUP (1)

Desired liquid channel(s) .......................................................................... SELECT


• In the sciFLEX-Software click the tab Nozzle Setup. (2)
• Click the green buttons corresponding to the desired channel to activate it (1).

Task "MorningWashProcedure" .......................................................... ACTIVATE


• Click the tab Nozzle Setup and then Do Task (2).

• Select MorningWashProcedure and click DO to start.


• A pop-up window will guide you through the operation (duration 20 mins).

DROP OPTIMIZATION (3)

• In the SNAP WINDOW click: Image > show center to obtain the centered green cross.
• For better nozzle visibility activate the strobe LED by setting a pulse of 1µs and
select Continuous Dispensing and click START (image will go bright).

Nozzle position offset values ...................................................................ADJUST (4)


• In the Nozzle Offset tab, adjust the nozzle position via the arrow buttons
until the nozzle is positioned as shown in (3).
• Click START again to turn off the piezo (Image will go dark).

Nozzle parameter........................................................................................ ENTER


• Set the parameters for Voltage and Pulse you obtained for your nozzle, into
the according fields (4).

• Save the parameters by clicking the Set Nozzle Parameter button.


• Select Continuous Dispensing in the dispense mode window and click START.

A drop should be visible now.
• Fine tune the parameters until the drop distance is approx. 450 ± 25 µm (5).
