Ephesians 1:13-14

13In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and
believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of
our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

5 Areas that we will cover

1. Where does the Spirit come from?
2. What does the Spirit do for us?
3. How do we obtain the Spirit?
4. What does the Spirit look like in the lives of believers?
5. How do we use the Spirit in our day to day lives?

The gifts are for the benefit of others not you

1 Corinthians 12:7
7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Different gifts, same source

1 Corinthians 12:8-11
8For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of
knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of
healing by the one Spirit, 10to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another
the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the
interpretation of tongues. 11All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who
apportions to each one individually as he wills.

3 - How do we obtain the Spirit

TARRY

Tarry- to remain or stay, as in a place; sojourn: to delay or be tardy in acting, starting, coming,
etc.;

Luke 24:49 KJV

49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem,
until ye be endued with power from on high.

Luke 24:49 ESV

49And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you
are clothed with power from on high."
Luke 24:49 TMSG
What comes next is very important: I am sending what my Father promised to you, so stay here
in the city until he arrives, until you're equipped with power from on high."
