This lesson gives the students the ability to master
reading analog clocks, which are used on a daily basis.
Knowing to properly read a clock will help the student
keep better track of time. Time management is the key
to efficient working. This lesson on time will also help
students be better organized, which is a skill used to
have more balance and productivity in your life.
Michigan Common Core State Standards for
Mathematics: Grade 2
-2. MD.7: Tell and write time from analog and
digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using
a.m. and p.m.
-Students will have the ability to read both an analog
and digital clock to the nearest 5-minute interval.
-Students will develop a better understanding of the
concept of time.
-Students will learn meanings of expressions such as
half past, quarter past, and quarter of (to, till).

1. Teacher should review prior knowledge of the
concept of time. Using their knowledge of time
(Days, hours, minutes, seconds, etc.), introduce the
analog clock on the interactive white board. Teacher
will go over the functions of the clock, and the
difference between AM/PM and the minute/hour
hands.
