Film Industry process

By George Zaghlul

Introduction
The film making process goes
through five stages the three main
stages are Pre-production, Production
and Post-production.
All films go through this process.
All the stages are as important as
each other as with out one you
wouldnt be able to finish the film.

Pre-production
Pre-production is the start of the film making
process, this involves the idea for a film so people
will sit and come up with an idea for a film.
The location manager will go out to find a suitable
and safe location to film, the costume designer
will start to design the costumes and most
importantly the casting director will start to hire
the cast for the film.
The Storyboard Artist will draw up the storyboard.
The budget will be set and they will start to
schedule the shoots.

Production
Production is when the crew start filming the film
Once the crew has been put together and the actors
have been picked the director will start to organise
the films shoots.
The director is responsible for controlling the set this
includes the content and flow of the film's plot,
directing the actors and managing technical details
such as the position of the cameras, the use of light
on the set, the timing and in charge of the film's
soundtrack.
They will shoot then start to film. The crew will work
actively together to finish the filming.

Post-production
Post-production is when the film has
been filmed, the editors will edit
down the film and add graphics and
special effects.
the music for the film is composed
and will then be recorded and added
into the film.
Once all of this has been done and
the director is happy with the film, it
is then finalised and the film is

Development and sales and

distribution
The other two stages are development and sales and
distribution
Development is at the very start of the film making
process this is the start of planning the film so this is
when the script is written and selected. They will
then look for sources of finance from big production
company's after this there will be organisations on
who will direct the film and other key roles.
Sales and distribution is at the end of the film making
process. This is when the film will be screened for
potential buyers it will then be distributed to theatres
for the rest of the public to watch.
