Introduction
We've come to expect a new iteration of Samsung's One UI skin with every flagship launch. Merely a couple of months after the significant One UI 4.0 update was released, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S22 series that comes with One UI 4.1 out of the box.
It has become standard for Samsung to release a couple of minor upgrades for its proprietary software after every major release. So we were already expecting the company to launch a new version with the Galaxy S22 series.
Unlike One UI 4.0, One UI 4.1 doesn't bring a lot of new features or make as many cosmetic improvements. That was to be expected. It does, however, add a few features and also makes some tweaks to existing functionality.
One UI 4.1 design and enhancements
The One UI 4.1 design is largely similar to that of One UI 4.0, which Samsung has developed from scratch to provide users with a more comfortable and personalized experience. This iteration of the custom Android skin sticks to that ethos.
Minor cosmetic improvements have been made keeping in mind the core guiding principles of One UI 4.0. This helps make system-wide navigation more seamless and intuitive. The overall look and feel remains modern and sleek.
One UI 4.1 features
There's not much in the way of new features that's included in One UI 4.1. One of the new additions is the improvement of the RAM Plus feature. Previously, it was only possible to use 4GB of onboard storage to expand the virtual RAM. One UI 4.1 lets users choose how much virtual RAM they want.
The native calendar app has been updated with smart features to aid productivity. Similarly, One UI 4.1 also improves seamless connectivity with Microsoft apps to provide an intuitive second-screen experience, particularly on Samsung's flagship tablets.
One UI 4.1 release
Samsung has released Android 12-based One UI 4.1 with the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The company will eventually release the update for many of its compatible devices in the coming weeks and months after the launch of its 2022 flagship phones.
