Samsung's free and ad-supported video streaming platform, Samsung TV Plus, is rising in popularity. Since its launch in 2015, the service has expanded its availability to several countries and gained millions of users. According to Samsung, Samsung TV Plus now has over 88 million monthly active users.
Samsung TV Plus users increased by 50% in 2024 compared to last year
Samsung TV Plus' global viewership reached 88 million monthly active users, which is a 50% rise compared to 2023. The app has the highest engagement in the US, and most of its users are from the Millenial, Gen X, and Gen Z groups.
The video streaming service was recently launched in Singapore and the Philippines. Now, Samsung is getting ready to launch Samsung TV Plus in Thailand. With that launch, Samsung TV Plus will be available in 30 countries globally. It has a wide variety of content, ranging from news channels to sports content and movies to TV shows. Samsung TV Plus is also available on Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and tablets in some countries.
Samsung TV Plus has tied up with several popular TV channels, media houses, and studios to bring their content to Samsung TVs. As prices of other streaming services like Disney+, Max, Prime Video, and Netflix are increasing, people are trying to switch to free and ad-supported TV (FAST) services like Samsung TV Plus.
Despite being a free service, Samsung TV Plus has brought a lot of premium content. There are over 3000 channels on Samsung TV Plus globally, and there are tens of thousands of hours of video-on-demand content as well. Apparently, there is a surge of 4x in video-on-demand viewership.
For advertisers, Samsung brings sophisticated audience targeting, full-funnel performance marketing, and interactive shopping ad experiences.
Salek Brodsky, SVP & GM at Samsung TV Plus, said, “The success of Samsung TV Plus reflects our commitment to delivering a superior user experience with high-quality content that resonates with consumers. When we embarked on this ambitious journey, our vision was to offer a premium streaming alternative that was both simple to use and free. The strategic bets we made nearly a decade ago have established a strong foundation for a service now enjoyed by 88 million streamers each month, and the path ahead is bright and promises continued growth well into the future.“
