Four years after launch, the Galaxy S20 series continues to receive software updates with surprising regularity. Samsung recently extended update support for the S20 lineup by an extra year, and this week, Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra owners in select markets can download the May 2024 update.
This update brings security enhancements from the May 2024 security patch to the OG Galaxy S20 lineup. As always, the Fan Edition Galaxy S20 model isn't receiving the latest update at the same time as its cousins.
Switzerland is first market to get Galaxy S20 May 2024 update
The May 2024 security patch includes fixes for 45 security vulnerabilities discovered in the existing software. 33 fixes come from Google for vulnerabilities that affect all Android devices. The rest fix vulnerabilities that exclusively affect Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
More on the update after the video below…
The new Galaxy S20 series update made its debut in Switzerland. It should reach other markets soon, but since these phones are more than four years old at this point, it may take time for the rollout to go fully global.
Once available in your country, the update–sporting build number G98**XXSKHXEA– will automatically show up in your phone's notifications. You can also manually check for it in the phone's Settings » Software update » Download and install menu. Another way to upgrade to the latest software version is by flashing the relevant firmware that's available for download from our archives.
