Galaxy A53 vs Galaxy A50: Get ready to open your wallet

The Galaxy A53, which was unveiled earlier today, is the successor to last year's Galaxy A52. But not all Galaxy A52 owners would be interested in upgrading to the new device. If you're currently using the Galaxy A50 or the Galaxy A51, the Galaxy A53 would be an excellent upgrade for your smartphone. Let's find out why.

Galaxy A53 has a faster display, more powerful processor

While the Galaxy A53 features a similar-sized Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, it offers higher brightness, a neater design (center punch hole for selfie camera), and a higher refresh rate than the Galaxy A50's screen. The new phone even features stereo speakers. So, the Galaxy A53 offers a massive upgrade in experience while watching photos and videos, browsing the web, and gaming.

Speaking of gaming, the Galaxy A53 offers a much faster processor, the Exynos 1280. Compared to the Galaxy A50's 11nm Exynos 9610 chipset, the 5nm Exynos 1280 processor is faster in both CPU and GPU-oriented tasks. It is also more power-efficient while performing any task. Both phones have a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Galaxy A53 also brings newer software, longer software update support

The Galaxy A53 comes pre-installed with Android 12-based One UI 4.1, and it is promised to get four major Android OS updates (up to Android 16). The Galaxy A50 was launched with Android 9 Pie and has received the Android 11 update. Unfortunately, it will not receive any Android OS update in the future, so the Galaxy A53 is a considerable upgrade over the Galaxy A50.

There's a huge upgrade in camera quality as well

The South Korean firm's new phone also offers improved image and video quality, thanks to its 64MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP selfie camera. The Galaxy A50 only features a 25MP primary camera sans OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 25MP selfie camera. The Galaxy A53 can record 4K videos using front and rear cameras, while the Galaxy A50 is limited to 1080p videos.

Galaxy A53 is better than Galaxy A50 in connectivity, battery life, charging speeds

The Galaxy A53's 5,000mAh battery also lasts much longer than the Galaxy A50's 4,00mAh battery. It also charges much faster at 25W (compared to Galaxy A50's 15W charging).

The Galaxy A53 also features 5G connectivity (sub-6GHz), while the Galaxy A50 is limited to LTE networks. Other wireless connectivity features remain the same. The Galaxy A53 is a downgrade in one area, though. It lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is present on the Galaxy A50.

Galaxy A53 is an excellent upgrade over the Galaxy A50

All things considered, the Galaxy A53 is a perfect upgrade for Galaxy A50 owners as it offers a more modern design, newer software, longer software update support, better screen, faster performance, longer battery life, quicker charging, and improved connectivity. You can look at detailed specifications comparison of the Galaxy A50 and the Galaxy A53 in the table below.
