Samsung made Android 12 available for the Galaxy A02s in the USA a couple of months ago, but the phone didn't receive the update across every US carrier network simultaneously. Tracfone is an example of a latecomer, as the update finally rolled out earlier this week.
More specifically, Android 12 is now available for Tracfone's Galaxy A02s (SM-S124DL). The update carries firmware version S124DLUDU8CVK4 and features the November 2022 security patch. And as expected from an Android 12 update, it also brings a new version of One UI, namely One UI 4.1 Core.
Indeed, the Galaxy A02s runs on the company's lightweight, Core version of the company's proprietary software, so you probably won't get every One UI 4.1 feature that became available for higher-end devices. Nevertheless, it's still a major Android OS release and should bring some noticeable changes and additions.
Android 12 One UI 4.1 Core is the last major firmware update for the Galaxy A02s. The device shipped with Android 10 upon release a couple of years ago, and firmware support for big updates is ending. The device will continue getting security patches two times a year — or more often if a critical security issue is required.
Galaxy A02s users on Tracfone's network in the USA should now be able to download Android 12 when receiving the notification or by opening the Settings app, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” You can also download official Samsung firmware from our website and install updates manually.
