Key Focus Areas

Water Resource Management

Access to clean and safe water is a priority for the directory. We work to improve water infrastructure and develop sustainable solutions to meet the county’s water needs. Our initiatives include:

  • Water Supply Systems: Developing and maintaining water infrastructure such as boreholes, dams, and water distribution systems to ensure communities, schools, and health centers have access to clean water.
  • Water Harvesting and Storage: Promoting rainwater harvesting and storage techniques, especially in arid and semi-arid regions, to ensure water security during dry seasons.
  • Irrigation Schemes: Supporting agricultural productivity through the development of irrigation systems that enhance food security and sustainable livelihoods.

Environmental Conservation

The unique ecosystems of Samburu, including its wildlife, forests, and rangelands, are vital to the county’s identity and economy. The directory is committed to:

  • Forestation and Reforestation Programs: Encouraging tree planting and forest conservation efforts to combat deforestation and desertification.
  • Wildlife Conservation: Working closely with local communities and conservation organizations to protect Samburu’s wildlife from poaching and habitat loss.
  • Environmental Education: Engaging communities in environmental awareness campaigns to promote sustainable practices, waste management, and ecosystem preservation.

Natural Resource Management

The responsible use of natural resources is key to the sustainable development of Samburu County. Our efforts focus on:

  • Sustainable Land Use: Promoting best practices in land management, ensuring that natural resources such as forests, rangelands, and minerals are used responsibly to prevent degradation.
  • Community-Based Resource Management: Involving local communities in decision-making processes related to natural resource use and conservation to ensure equitable and sustainable outcomes.
  • Renewable Energy Promotion: Encouraging the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and enhance environmental sustainability.
