"Attending the Congress is a fundamental part of my team’s development and helps them keep connected with innovation and healthcare more widely."

Dr Caroline Johnson, Deputy Director of Governance and Patient Safety at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS FT

Now moving into its 18th year, HSJ Patient Safety Congress, Awards and Safety Leaders Exchange, join with over 1000 NHS and independent healthcare leaders, managers, clinicians, patient representatives and families, who all share in the goal of transforming patient safety across the system.
With the government’s focus toward the new 10-year healthcare plan arriving in 2025, we’ll be diving into what it’s going to take to continue to deliver safely amidst times of change. As always, we continue to prioritise honest conversations that centre the safe care of people: patients and their families, and the staff who look after them, at the heart of our discussions. Exploring all the fundamentals and facets required for the improvement of a system, that continues to endure and operate under long-standing systemic pressures.

The leading annual meeting for those at the forefront of safety, quality and clinical excellence

The 2025 agenda, held across two days and including 11 content streams and 150 speakers, we will be addressing what it will take to deliver safety amidst the change that the government’s 10-year health plan brings and within a system operating under long-standing pressures. We’ll be highlighting pockets of innovation, the embedding of improvement policies and offering a practical toolkit for leaders, managers and front-line clinicians to manage safety and drive improvement. With dynamic, interactive and honest discussions throughout, attendees will be able to explore how safety approaches are contributing to reduce avoidable harm and improve the quality of patient care across the system.

Our audience always bring tangible solutions back to their organisations, with 89% of 2023 and 2024 attendees saying that their objectives were met.

“The safety of patients involves understanding how the system works…a very large system…but everyone can contribute, because we’re all part of the system.”

Professor Sir Ian Kennedy, Emeritus Professor of Health Law, Ethics and Policy, University College London

"The quality of everything we do first, depends on the quality of the thinking we do first, which is why it's so important to take time out to reflect and learn new ideas."
