The "e" is still silent, but the statement is loud and clear!
On Sunday, September 15, trans actress Nava Mau attended the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards as one of the breakout stars of Baby Reindeer, subsequently earning a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category.
Despite losing the trophy to fellow costar Jessica Gunning, who played Martha Scott on Baby Reindeer, Mau still emerged victorious by giving us several moments of trans joy, beauty, and excellence. For starters, Mau attended the ceremony wearing a custom gown by Gigi Goode — who, since finishing as the runner-up of Drag Race season 12, has disclosed that she's a trans woman and even started a self-titled fashion brand.
Goode shared a few pictures and videos of herself assisting Mau in her preparation for the Emmy Awards. However, the Drag Race alum kept things mostly "mysterious" until the Emmy-nominated actress actually walked the red carpet.

But when Mau finally hit the Emmy Awards red carpet, it was revealed that she was wearing a custom Gigi Goode creation... and we were all gagging!
The official @gigigoode brand account also shared a video of this custom outfit created for Mau to wear at the Emmys, giving fans a full view of this stunning dress.
Between Mau's well-deserved nomination, Goode's dazzling outfit, and Cox breaking protocol to share her emotional reaction, this Emmy Awards ceremony gave us many sensational moments to celebrate trans people and the (slow but noteworthy) progress we've been making in terms of mainstream media visibility.
We couldn't be prouder of these three icons — who are all at different points in their lives and careers — for uplifting and celebrating one another.
