Central Florida International Auto Show: The Auto Show will display models from a variety of manufacturers and displayed by local automobile dealers. There’s an exotic car section, an indoor track for electric vehicles, and an outdoor test-drive route. Visitors can even see Mario Andretti’s Formula One race car and view some of the vehicles from the Mopar Mob – hobby cars created for nonprofit and charity events. Kids can take tot-sized electric cars for a test drive and enter to win one of the ride-on toy cars, just in time for the holidays. The United States Air Force Band’s premier jazz ensemble, “The Airmen of Note,” from Washington, D.C.: See one of the world’s greatest jazz bands live in concert. Dave’s House Party: Dave’s House Party 2024 will be a night of mission-driven fun as Dave’s House celebrates 15 years of providing permanent supportive housing for adults with serious mental illness in Central Florida. —Guided Bicycle Tour of Green Springs Park, 9 a.m. Nov. 22. Join DeBary Hall historians Tracy Mestre and Lisa Perez along with Environmental Specialist Holly Giles for a 15-mile bike ride from Green Springs to Guise Road. The tour begins with the history of Green Springs, the native plants of the area, and how the springs are affected by our water quality. There will be stops along the way with one restroom break at the Osteen Civic Center. Come for the whole tour or as far as you want to ride. Children and teens ages 12 and up are welcome if accompanied by an adult. All participants should bring a helmet and water. Sunscreen is recommended.

—Santa’s Breakfast, 9 a.m. Dec. 7. Kick off the holiday season by having breakfast with Santa Claus. Breakfast, which will be served at 9 a.m., will include pancakes, eggs, and more. Afterward, Santa will tell Christmas tales and pose for photos. Children will also make a holiday craft and sing holiday songs. Due to space limitations and to make sure as many children as possible have the chance to visit with Santa, each family is asked to limit their adult tickets to two. —Holiday Candlelight Tours, 6 and 7 p.m. Dec. 13-14. Explore DeBary Hall during holiday evenings when candlelight will fill the 19th century mansion with a warm glow, accentuating its historic treasures and Christmas decorations. —DeBary Hall Holiday Tea, 11 a.m. Dec. 19. Experience the elegance of a traditional Victorian afternoon tea with samplings, etiquette lessons, and a mansion tour. Guests may sample two teas as hostesses dressed in Victorian clothing describe the history of tea and offer instruction on tea etiquette. Seating is limited, and tickets must be purchased by Dec. 14. Paddlers must bring their watercraft, a personal flotation device such as a life jacket, and a whistle. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet. Paddle through Strickland Bay and discover what makes oysters such an important part of the ecosystem.

—Explore Volusia Challenge Preserve Number 3, 9-11 a.m. Nov. 21, Scrub Oak Preserve, 1495 McGregor Road, DeLand. Ages 10 and up are welcome; children must be  accompanied by an adult. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Participate in a one-mile hike in Scrub Oak Preserve, the third preserve in this year’s challenge. Discuss the 2024-2025 Explore Volusia Challenge and learn how to register and participate. Explore Nature at the LEC: Discover Volusia County’s native plants and wildlife during free indoor programs and outdoor hikes at Lyonia Environmental Center, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona. The 360-acre preserve adjacent to the LEC and Deltona Regional Library is home to a variety of wildlife, including Florida scrub jays and gopher tortoises, which are drawn to the low vegetation and sandy ridges of the scrub habitat. Staff will offer the following programs –

—Photography Club Hike, 8-9 a.m. Nov. 16. Lyonia Preserve has unlimited opportunities for photographing birds, reptiles, and plants. Budding photographers can take advantage of this hike to hone their skills. All skill levels, ages, and camera types (from cellphones to fancy digital cameras) are welcome.

—“Fall in the Air” Hike, 9-10 a.m. Nov. 16. Explore the scrub habitat of Lyonia Preserve and look for signs of fall on this 1.5-mile hike. This program is recommended for ages 8 and up.

—Autumn Stroll, 9-10 a.m. Nov. 22. Lace up your hiking shoes and join LEC staff for an exploratory hike of Lyonia Preserve. The group will look for the plant and animal species that call scrub habitat their home. This program is recommended for ages 8 and up.

Volunteers needed to recover fishing line: Volusia County needs environmentally minded volunteers to participate in the Monofilament Recovery and Recycling Program. This program collects and recycles discarded fishing line to help keep local waterways tangle free for manatees, dolphins, sea turtles and other aquatic animals. Fishing line recovery bins are located throughout Volusia County and are ready to be adopted in Astor, Daytona Beach, DeLand, DeLeon Springs, Deltona, Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach, Ormond-by-the-Sea, Osteen, Pierson and Ponce Inlet. Residents who live near a fishing location, spend a lot of time near the water or are avid boaters are encouraged to get involved. Participants should be at least 16 years old. Volunteers can adopt a fishing line recovery bin in their area. The contents are documented, and the data is sent to program coordinators. This data is used to improve the program’s overall effectiveness. Participants receive training materials and can earn an official Monofilament Recovery and Recycling Program T-shirt.
