Victor, a millionaire newspaper publisher, gets a blackmail note just as Mónica, a reporter, is about to break a Syrian war story that implicates him.

The plot thickens when the extortionists make good on their threats, but also throw Victor a lifeline when he least expects it.

As more and more people die under mysterious circumstances, Victor's guilt hits a zenith and his world begins to crumble. Protests erupt in Madrid.

After Victor confesses everything to Mónica, she begins to have doubts. Meanwhile, Detective Conte becomes obsessed with the case.

After Mónica distances herself, Victor takes a gamble with Conte to foil Midas, and tries to redistribute his fortune. The protests continue.
