Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has purchased the rights to the club's 'Invincibles' brand.

The ex-Germany international played for the Gunners between 2003 and 2008 and was part of the Arsenal side under Arsene Wenger that went undefeated for a whole season in the Premier League. Lehmann played in all 38 matches and kept clean sheets in 15 of them as the club completed a feat that has not been repeated since in England.

The 54-year-old completed the £30,000 transaction to secure use of the trademark that commemorates the title-winning 2003/04 season, ahead of it's 20-year anniversary. Lehmann made the deal in 2022, with the north London side caught unaware according to The Daily Mail.

The Arsenal legend now intends to set up a company with 28 players and 12 staff members - including Wenger - and to organise events that can generate revenue and see money donated to charity. A documentary, overseas tour and match against a Manchester United legends have all been touted.

“I had the idea because the name ‘Invincibles’ becomes more and more popular approaching the 20th anniversary,” Lehman told the Daily Mail.

“Nobody had it, so I was looking into it. I was ready to get the branding rights for our group, so everybody who’s using it is violating our brand. The club were probably a little surprised because nobody thought about having the brand name registered. At least they know it’s now being controlled.

“We have 28 players and 12 staff members, which includes the boss. The company has not been set up yet because we’re still preparing.

"There will be one or two events here very soon where we give something back to the people. Everybody will be a shareholder of the company.

“It’s easier to get all the members of our group in one company because you have costs and income created. The company gets the revenue and then hopefully everything is shared. If we have income, we are going to do something for a charity.”
