Liam Payne had a poignant phrase tattooed across his chest, amid concerns for the celeb's wellbeing.
The One Direction star fell to his death yesterday from the third floor of a hotel in the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires. Police, firefighters and ambulances were seen outside the luxury Casa Sur Hotel after the 31-year-old is believed to have fallen around 14 metres and suffered 'very serious injuries incompatible with life'. Liam was confirmed dead at the scene.
Police were also said to have been called to reports of a man acting aggressively at the hotel who could be under the effect of drink or drugs. Hotel workers allegedly witnessed the celeb 'acting erratically'; local news outlets, including La Nacion and Clarin, later released photos of the star's deluxe room, showing traces of a white powder and burnt aluminium foil as well as a smashed TV.
Before the shock incident, Liam had been documenting his time in Argentina with girlfriend Kate Cassidy and was reportedly seen comparing his various inkings with fans outside the accommodation. One of his last body art pieces, designed by famed tattooist Certified Letter Boy, was the phrase 'Where dark meets light'. The ombre-styled gothic font was spread across Liam's chest, and was completed at the London Social tattoo parlour.
"It reflects Liam's journey and the universal truth that in our darkest moments, there's always a way back," the tattooist said, according to The Sun. Fans were quick to spot the tattoo and its now haunting meaning, commenting with rows of crying and broken heart emojis.

Liam booked the tattoo around the same time he was working on a new album, which ended up being shelved . "Lyrically it's about the relationship I am in at the moment," he said at the time. "It has been tough at times and great at others, and also my relationship with myself and what I found out about myself when I went to rehab and all those things."
But months after and the singer ended up spending 100 days in a wellness clinic in the US. Reports say the facility, located in the state of Lousiana, specialises in providing treatment for those with past trauma. Technology including mobile phones are not permitted in the clinic. An autopsy into the star's death is now underway as part of an investigation.
