Liam Payne's fans have paid tribute to the former One Direction singer by getting a tattoo of his most famous inking.

The singer died on Wednesday evening after falling from a third floor balcony in the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After the news of his death broke, loyal fans have been paying tribute to the star in various ways. Some have travelled to the hotel to sing One Direction songs outside the establishment.

When Liam's parents arrived at the hotel, fans greeted them after forming a vigil. Fans had also left flowers, letters and cards outside the lobby as they paid their respects to Liam, which Geoff took time to read. To allow the grieving dad to do so in peace, One Direction fans united to form a shield around him, using backpacks and their hands to block local media cameras.

Another fan launched a fundraiser in his name for The Trussell Trust which he worked with during his life. The page had a target of £1,000 set for the charity that help tackle poverty and supports 1,400 food banks across the country. And now, fans have been paying tribute to the star by getting the same ink he had.

They tattooed the five arrows - which matched the one he had on his own arm. The arrows represent the five members of One Direction, including Liam, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles. Liam had a tattoo of four arrows, which was thought to be the other four members of the band.

Fans have added a special new take to the tattoo by adding angel wings to it. One fan got a colourful fine line version of the tattoo and said: "Finally took the step to get my One Direction tattoo, but in the saddest way possible—for Liam Payne. I always imagined it would be a happier moment, not under these circumstances.

"I would've chosen a different time, a different reason, but now feels right. I’m proud I pushed through the pain and cost to honour Liam in this way. These tattoos will help me process my grief and keep his memory close." One user shared her plans and wrote on social media: "I was thinking about getting a 1D tattoo for long. Now, I think this is the right time."

Meanwhile, the late singer's father Geoff Payne was seen surrounded by mourners as he spent time reading tributes to his son outside the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires alongside others who were paying their respects to the former One Direction star.
