Kristin J. Bender

Kristin J. Bender is the regional transportation reporter for the Bay Area News Group and a native of the Bay Area. Bender has worked as a reporter and editor in newspapers, magazines and television for more than 30 years. She has covered government, social issues, crime, the environment, healthcare, transportation and community features. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism, a two-time Maynard Institute fellow, and has won awards for her journalism from the East Bay Press Club, Society of Professional Journalists, the California News Publishers Association and others. She was among the journalists who participated in The Chauncey Bailey Project, which investigated the killing of journalist Chauncey Wendell Bailey Jr.
