Exciting announcements from the LF
Project Jupyter
LF Charities, Inc. welcomed Project Jupyter, a prominent open-source initiative for interactive computing and data science. Jupyter software and standards enable data scientists, researchers, educators, and enterprises to create and share interactive notebooks, and to build new applications centered on the interactive exploration of data, supporting collaboration with both humans and AI. Evolving from the IPython project, and growing in NumFOCUS, the transition to LF Charities marks a new chapter in the project’s history, offering enhanced support, governance, and long-term vision for Project Jupyter's development. Discover more about Project Jupyter, its mission, community and initiatives.
LF Research: Insights galore!
Since our October newsletter, we’ve published six–count ‘em, six–new research reports! And we didn’t do it alone. Numerous research partners, including AWS and Intel, made it all possible, and we are truly grateful for their trust and support.
Reports
OpenSearch Awareness and Perceptions Report
Amazon Web Services (AWS) commissioned LF Research to field a survey in the Linux Foundation community to assess the awareness and perception of OpenSearch, focusing on whether the open source nature of the solution was important, the experiences the audience has had with the solution, and the audience's feedback on its capabilities, areas of concern, and strategies.
Open Source Software Developer Report
Intel sponsored LF Research to survey the open source developer community, asking the strategic question: What do you need to advance your career? We found that attending meetups and open source events are highly valued, in particular as a way to find inspiration, get motivated, and connect with the community.
