Behind every great Amazon shopping season are the sellers who make it happen. Watch as we sit down with four incredible entrepreneurs: Adam Weiler, founder of Emplicit; Zakhar Ivanisov, founder of Soul & Lane; Wei Lin, founder of Mantaro Capital Corp.; and Makieda Hart, founder of SGT Hart’s BBQ Sauce, to hear how we’re building a stronger partnership for the future, and learning from their experience to make Amazon the best store for shoppers and sellers alike. Who would think to sell apple cakes to pay their mortgage during a recession? Angela Logan, founder and CEO of Mortgage Apple Cakes, did just that. When Angela lost her job during the 2008 recession and faced the possibility of losing her home, she leaned into the #Kwanzaa principle of Kuumba (creativity) to find a solution. Using her family recipe of fresh ingredients and aromatic spices, she set out to sell 100 cakes in one week. Her untraditional approach gained national media attention, resulting in 500 new orders and enough funds to save her home. Her inspiring story and delicious cakes captured hearts worldwide, eventually leading to a Lifetime movie about her journey in 2014. In 2023, Angela started selling her cakes with Amazon and was named one of Oprah’s Favorite Things, sparking a wave of new orders. She credits the success of her Amazon storefront to strategic advice from Amazon’s strategic accounts team and effectively using ads to drive traffic to her storefront.

Amazon seller Avani Modi Sarkar sets the mood for the #holiday festivities by sharing some of her favorite family traditions. These include a #Diwali playdate and creating holiday themed activities for kids. Avani and her brother co-founded Modi Toys, eight years ago when they each had their first daughter, born just a week apart. As children of Indian immigrants, they wanted a way to pass on their cultural values to their kids in a fun way, eventually deciding on play as it’s the universal language for kids. Their business, Modi Toys, offers plush toys and gifts that incorporate Indian culture and values into story and playtime. Since setting up an Amazon storefront, they’ve expanded their business to Canada and India. They attribute much of their Amazon success to participating in key shopping events like Prime Day and leveraging Amazon Ads to boost brand awareness.

Earlier this month, Amazon's Black Business Accelerator hosted The Equity Table Dinner, an evening dedicated to honoring Black entrepreneurship and showcasing the remarkable achievements of the #AmazonBBA program. The event reminded us of the impact we can have when we come together to empower Black-owned businesses. From hearing firsthand how Amazon is helping sellers grow and scale their brands, to connecting with inspiring entrepreneurs and community leaders, the night was a testament to the collaborative spirit of Amazon BBA and the importance of creating access and opportunities. The insightful conversation was led by Kimberly Blackwell and Danyel Surrency Jones, sharing the incredible stories of growth alongside selling partners Adam Ali, owner of Everyday Hustle, Angie Ravenel, Owner of Aravenel Products, Jasmin Foster CEO of BeRooted Co, Tiffany Davis CEO & Founder of GirlSupps and more!

At the end of the day, it’s really not about stuff. It’s about people,” said Dean-Paul Hart, president and CEO of Compac Industries. From Jamaica to Georgia, the Hart family's journey with Compac Industries sets an example for businesses of all sizes. Jamaican immigrant Frederick Hart founded the company in 1980. Today, his son Dean-Paul leads the business. As practical as their products are, the team is about more than just making kitchen gadgets, baby products, and beauty care—they're changing lives. Here’s how: - A family-forward philosophy remains at the heart of their success - A majority of their 17-person staff are refugees, and Compac helps them rebuild their lives through employment - The team leverages Amazon's tools and programs to grow their business and better serve customers (they joined Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator in 2021, and they use Fulfillment by Amazon and Subscribe & Save) Learn about more purpose-driven businesses like Compac Industries on the Sellers in Your Community website at http://spr.ly/6005QsgVR #sellonamazon #amazonseller #businessowner #blackbusinessaccelerator #amazon #fba #SupportSmallWithAmazon
