Online Training: It’s All About Relationships: Developing a System of Care for Families and Children Affected by Perinatal Substance Use November 20, 2024 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm ET Description: A child’s prenatal or environmental exposure to substance use and misuse in the family is recognized as one of the most significant barriers to the child’s healthy development. While not all children enter the child welfare system, those that do bring multiple risk factors related to their early separation from their biological families and their prenatal exposure to the toxic effects of substances of abuse. Making their life circumstances more complex, children placed in the child welfare system due to their parents’ substance use, whether as a primary or contributing factor, tend to stay longer in the system, have more frequent moves while in care and experience a longer wait for permanency. When resources for the children and their families are available, there frequently is a lack of coordination between service providers charged with addressing the mental and behavioral health needs of the children and their parents. Consequently, progress towards family stabilization and placement permanency is hindered. This webinar will present evidence-based strategies of prevention and early intervention that have the potential to benefit families and children affected by substance use in pregnancy. Cost: Free or a $20 fee for CEUs for non-members and a $10 fee for CWLA members For more information or to register: https://lnkd.in/euQKav-N
