Think longevity is about more years of life? Think bigger. The Longevity Economy is reshaping our world with six generations actively shaping everything from societal values to workplace dynamics to market trends. In this article, I explore what I call 'Generational Alchemy,' where Baby Boomers to Gen Z aren't just coexisting – their interactions are transforming how we work, live, buy, and innovate. From #PearlHarbor's fading echoes to Gen Z's digital-first and pandemic reality, each generation brings unique perspectives and collective memories to society, government, and business. Ever wonder why some workplace initiatives, market strategies, or policies soar while others stumble? The answer might lie in understanding how generations collide, conflict, and ultimately find consensus. MMSD is proud to collaborate with the MIT AgeLab and Dr. Joe Coughlin to find out how people think about life after work. The results of a national survey show that the words used to describe life beyond career vary by age and gender. AgeLab researcher Alexa Balmuth recently presented research at the American Public Health Association 2024 Annual Meeting & Expo (#APHA2024)! 📚 💭 💉 During her presentation, Lexi shared findings from a study on individuals' vaccine attitudes and uptake behavior, with particular attention to reasons for skepticism about vaccinations. In the study, Americans aged 50 and older completed a survey where they were asked about their uptake status for five vaccines often recommended for older adults (shingles, pneumococcal, influenza, COVID-19, and Tdap) as well as their level of trust toward vaccines in general and, for vaccines they had not received, about their reasoning for not vaccinating.
