About us

Mission Statement: To enhance the quality of life for individuals and families of Black and African Heritage through positive social change for people experiencing mental health difficulties. We seek to define and highlight the differing identities we bring with us that can contribute to the disparity that we encounter. Vision Statement: Our Vision is to empower community members of Black and African Heritage through advocacy and policy reform for culturally informed and equitable access to housing, mental health treatment, education, criminal justice, entrepreneurship and employment. Membership: Attendance of one general meeting justifies membership. General meetings are scheduled for the 1st Monday of every month at 9:30am. General meetings will be inclusive of allyship. Safe spaces solely for Black persons will be created throughout the work as supplemental support to our community to allow for discussion/topics for us and by us. • 🌿 Your Daily Reminder 🌿 In the hustle of everyday life, we often overlook the need to pause and recharge. Taking just a few minutes to breathe deeply can help reduce stress, improve focus, and restore a sense of calm. This is your gentle reminder to: ✨ Take a deep breath. ✨ Release any tension you’re holding. ✨ Show kindness to yourself. Self-care is more than a buzzword—it’s a lifeline. Let’s break the stigma around taking time for our mental wellness, especially within our Black communities, where strength and resilience are often seen as our only options. 💙 Remember, asking for help, resting, and setting boundaries are all acts of courage. 🔸 Here are a few quick tips to practice self-kindness today: Close your eyes, breathe in deeply, and exhale slowly. Repeat 5 times. Take a 5-minute break to stretch or step outside if possible. Remind yourself of one thing you’re grateful for. Reach out to a friend or loved one for a quick check-in. ✨ You deserve this time to reconnect with yourself. ✨ #MentalHealthMatters #SelfCareIsHealing #BreatheDeeply #BlackMentalHealth #CommunityCare #MindfulMoments #RestAndRecharge #WellnessJourney

  • 🗳️ Empower Your Mind: How Voting Supports Mental Wellness! 🗳️ Today is Voting Day! As you head to the polls, remember that participating in elections isn’t just about civic duty; it’s also a powerful tool for enhancing our mental health. Here’s how casting your vote can uplift your spirit and strengthen your mind: 🌱 1. Sense of Empowerment: Voting gives you a voice in the decisions that impact your life and community. Knowing that you can influence change fosters a sense of control and can lead to increased optimism about the future. 🤝 2. Community Connection: Engaging in the electoral process helps you feel connected to your community. Whether it’s discussing issues with friends or participating in local events, voting creates bonds and reduces feelings of isolation. 🧠 3. Personal Growth: The process of learning about candidates and policies stimulates your mind and encourages critical thinking. Staying informed about the issues that matter to you can be intellectually rewarding and satisfying. ❤️ 4. Reduced Anxiety: Taking action can often alleviate feelings of helplessness. By voting, you’re taking a step toward shaping the future you want to see, which can reduce anxiety and stress. ✨ 5. Role Modeling: When you vote, you inspire those around you—friends, family, and especially the younger generation—to engage in civic activities. This creates a ripple effect of empowerment within your community. Let’s make our voices heard and prioritize our mental well-being! Remember, your vote matters—not just for the issues at hand but for your mental health, too! ✅ Make a plan to vote today! Whether it’s by mail or at the polls, take the time to ensure your voice is counted. #EmpowerYourMind #VoteForYourWellbeing #MentalHealthMatters #CommunityConnection #CivicEngagement #therapeuticplayfoundation #blackmentalhealthtaskforce
