Yves' Insight: CPR can save a life
Hey Linked in communit. Thought I would engage more on here to update you on all that is happening in my life :).
Last weekend, I experienced the scariest moment I have witnessed in nearly 15 years of sports physiotherapy. A teen netballer dropped to the ground during a game with no obvious mechanism of injury. CPR needed to be administered as well as a life-saving shock from a defibrillator. I have NO DOUBT these interventions saved her life! Post-incident, having made contact with her family, I know she is recovering as well as can be expected which is a welcome relief.
This experience reminded me of a few things I wanted to share with our community.
It can never hurt to learn CPR or do a first aid course. You never know when you could be called upon and I highly recommend everyone do so. Please reach out if you would like to enrol in a course, I have a wonderful contact who runs First Aid and CPR courses for all different groups.
If you, your children, or loved ones are involved with sports teams, please contact the clubs and ask about their first aid policies - particularly if they have a defibrillator or not. If not, there are many community grants you can access to gain one as doing so may save a life.
As always, if you have any questions or would like to touch base with me about this important issue please don’t hesitate to get in contact. Thanks and have a wonderful week. Hope you enjoyed the first edition of Yves' Insight!

7moGreat insight Yves, in relation to CPR training “better to have it and never need it, than need it and not have it”. Sounds like you and your team done a great job on the day.
