Why you should Startup as college project?
“Every beginner possesses a great potential to be an expert in his or her chosen field.” Lailah Gifty Akita
In college days, it is easy to get amazing mentors and form a faithful team and build network with right people. You get enough time for planning to turn a side project, started in college, into a full-fledged venture. With some hard work, contribution of money from friends, family and luck of course, you can succeed.
Many of us think of college projects as just college projects. With minimum risk and maximum fun we do them just to get some good grades or impress our professors. But things become quite different when your college project gets implemented in the real world and you end up making great bucks out of it. I bet you must have discussed the most innovative ideas with your friends sitting on the back bench in classroom, obviously people on front bench don't get the time to discuss ideas(just kidding), and that's how many startups have started.
I am writing few ways to get a kick start on your journey.
Entrepreneurship Cells (E-cells)
Almost every institute has an entrepreneurship cell run by the students and the alumni of the institute. These days e-cells are playing a pivotal role in providing different resources to the students. Your e-cell helps you from ideation to company registration to investor connect. They organize different types of seminars and workshop to enhance knowledge of the students. If you haven't joined your e-cell yet,do join it immediately and if you're already a member you can invite us to your college for organising workshops (Click here).
Hackathons
If you are looking for a platform where you can compete with other like-minded people and prove that your idea is the most innovative and if you want to better the life of others by applying your knowledge, hackathon will provide you with all the required exposure and challenge you to prove that you're the best. Indian Government organizes a nationwide Smart India Hackathon every year, you can become its part to have an exciting experience.
Offline Meetups & Events
Many communities like The Hustler Team organize expert talks, workshops and startup events where they invite industry experts, mentors, service providers and wholesome of all the key players from the ecosystem. You can join these events to get the exposure and build your network with people from various background, working in the startup domain. You can see others pitching their ideas in front of investors, some of the founders showcasing their products, it can give you immense learning and even a break through to convert your project into a full fledged venture.
You should take an experimental approach of trial and error, and not be afraid of failure. I believe college students may not have any work experience or industry knowledge, but they do have the zeal. The hunger of getting success in their life combined with the fire of working hard and serving million people will facilitate them to make their own path. After all, where there's a will there's a way.
Now it's time to stop talking and start working. Once you will start you will find several ways of tackling with the problem. Just try to stick to the core and believe me, you can do it, the way I did.
