Why Restaurants Are Like A Box of Chocolates.

Why Restaurants Are Like A Box of Chocolates.

Read Time: 3 minutes

The gifting of chocolates has been a long-time tradition for many.

Now picture yourself when you are offered a chocolate from a box.

If you don't have a fancy card that tells you what each one is and what they look like, you always choose one by eye and hope that it is a flavour you like.

For example, I always cringe until my tastebuds tell me it's not mint or orange flavoured!

But why am I talking about chocolate so much?

If you don't have systems and processes in place for your teams, the only thing they can do is make a decision and hope it doesn't end with it being like a mint chocolate for me!

It's hard to believe how many restaurants don't do this, and, as a result, set their people up to fail or don't make the tools available to execute tasks effectively.

How many times have you heard the following phrases;

"Make more revenue"

↳ But there is no calendar template or structure to plan effective marketing activity.

If this is you, check out our annual marketing plan

"Cut payroll by 20%"

↳ But no one knows the zero-based roster levels.

If this is you, check out our zero-based roster

"Boss, the project is delayed"

↳ But there is no project plan in place to keep you on track.

If this is you, check out our Pre-Opening Project Checklist

All of these impact your team’s ability to focus on the guest, and their teams, which ultimately impacts the top and bottom line and reduces your retention rates for both.

So moving forward, ask yourself, does your business have the little card that tells you what to expect?

Because restaurants are like a box of chocolates - but with restaurants, you should always know what you’re going to get!

See you next time.
