Why Purpose Matters: Personal Reflections and Broader Implications

I’m not someone who does things halfway—when I commit, it’s all or nothing. That’s just how I’m wired. This relentless drive I have can be a powerful force that brings positive outcomes not just for me but for you, your dreams, and your aspirations.

But here's the thing: there's a caveat.

Without a clear purpose guiding that drive, it risks becoming nothing more than aimless activity. Purpose is what channels that energy into something meaningful and impactful. I had to learn this the hard way.

No matter how much I delved into these questions and sought out answers, there was always something missing. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it at the time, but now I see it clearly—it was a lack of purpose.

I was great at uncovering and highlighting the individual purpose for others, showcasing it through the brand and strategic work I did, but I hadn’t found my own purpose. This was holding me back from performing at an even higher level.

Without that clear sense of direction, all my curiosity and drive felt scattered, as if I was constantly chasing after something that would bring more fulfillment and meaning to my work—but it always seemed just out of reach.

It wasn’t until I discovered my own purpose that everything started to fall into place.

That’s when my passion for understanding people and solving problems transformed into something even more truly fulfilling and impactful.

The best part? My clients began reaping the rewards of this newfound clarity and discovery, elevating our work to an even greater more impactful level.

Abundance acts as a guidepost for me, especially in times of challenge, allowing me to approach the work I do for organizations and individuals with greater clarity.

It’s not just about seeing things through to completion; it’s about seeing through things—gaining a deeper understanding of what’s really going on beneath the surface.

A Competitive Advantage?

This perspective is a huge competitive advantage for us all, enabling us to navigate complexities and uncover opportunities &/or insights that others might miss.

Let's take the great work of Simon Sinek's The Optimism Company WHY --- "people don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it" resonates widely, I’d argue that it’s missing a key component within the statement.

People don’t simply buy into the "why" itself—they buy into a person’s ability to leverage their "why" and tailor it to meet the specific needs of others.

The "why" serves as a powerful motivator and a source of the real you - authenticity, but what truly drives results is how effectively that purpose is applied in a way that aligns with the goals, values, and challenges of the client or audience.

In other words, it’s not just about having a compelling "why"; it’s about the ability to translate that purpose into actionable strategies that deliver value and outcomes for others.

Ultimately, people are drawn to those who can take their "why" and use it as a tool to create solutions that address real-world needs.

It’s this practical application—how the "why" is harnessed and leveraged—that makes the difference.

Given this perspective, do you believe that a person's ability to effectively leverage and tailor their "why" to meet the specific needs of others is what truly creates value, rather than the "why" itself?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Love,

Lisa
