I had a very interesting conversation with one of my old clients today, and he has always been someone that uses temporary staff for his business. During our conversation I spoke to him about how difficult it has been to find new temp business in our industry, and it all just led to talking about all the good reasons for hiring a temporary employee.

We went on and on about it for a while, we got excited about Crone Corkill's temporary workforce, and it inspired me to put together some points I could share with my network.

  1. It is a cost effective solution – as you are not taking on full benefits and headcount (this cost is managed by your agency).
  2. The hiring process is so much shorter if you work with an agency you can trust – you can have someone in place within hours or can “try before you buy” with temp to perm recruitment options.
  3. A temporary worker can reduce the stress on your existing staff who may be under pressure and working long hours.
  4. The flexibility of temporary staff is very convenient during busy periods.
  5. You gain a pool of regular support from fully trained staff for holidays and sickness cover.
  6. And most importantly, it can reduce the risk of hiring mistakes.

In difficult times such as the ones we are currently living in, temporary solutions could mean a time and cost saving exercise for your business.

Additionally, my client brought up a great point: hiring temporary staff can also be extremely helpful for unemployed professionals that need to keep busy, and want to avoid a large gap on their CV after facing redundancy and unemployment.
