Why aren’t you failing?

Why aren’t you failing?

Are you failing??

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. In fact, failure is something that happens to all of us at some point in our lives. It’s a natural part of the learning process and an essential stepping stone towards success.

So, let’s take a moment to dive into the beauty of failure and why perfectionism can be damaging.

Picture this: you wake up in the morning, ready to conquer the world. You have a to-do list as long as your arm and it is filled with tasks that need to be completed. But as the day progresses, you realise that there simply aren’t enough hours to fit everything in. The feeling of overwhelm creeps in, and that little voice in your head starts whispering, “You should have done more. You should have been better.” Ah, the dreaded ‘should’—a word and feeling that I discourage.

When you “should all over yourself,” it creates a mess that’s incredibly difficult to clean up.

The pressure to live up to unrealistic expectations and accomplish everything perfectly is an unattainable goal. We live in a world where social media feeds are filled with people’s “best faces,” showcasing their accomplishments and triumphs.

Rarely do we see or hear about their failures. But the truth is, behind closed doors, everyone is imperfectly human.

Interestingly, I’ve noticed that this phenomenon is particularly prevalent among right-brained women. However, in today’s digital world, anyone can fall victim to what I like to call the “Superman syndrome.”

We feel the need to be superhuman, juggling numerous responsibilities flawlessly. But let’s take a step back and remind ourselves that being imperfect is not only normal but also something to be celebrated.

So, here’s to the failures! Yes, you read that right.

Failure is not something to be ashamed of; it’s an opportunity for growth and learning. It’s a chance to discover new paths, explore different approaches, and gain valuable insights. Embracing failure means embracing our own humanity and acknowledging that we are all a work in progress.

Instead of beating yourself up over perceived shortcomings or missed goals, take a moment to appreciate who you are right now, in this very moment.

You are enough.

There is nothing wrong with you. We are all beautifully flawed, and that’s what makes us unique.

Now, I invite you to share with me your proudest failure or the failure from which you’ve learned the most. What is it that’s making you imperfectly human today? Remember, there’s no judgment here—just a safe space to acknowledge and celebrate the lessons that failure has taught us.

I’ll kick things off by sharing one of my own failures in the comments below. Let’s embrace our imperfections together and celebrate the messy, glorious journey of being imperfectly human!
