WHAT COMES AFTER THE INTERFACE?
What’s next in AR and MR? A new chapter in human-machine-interaction. We are going beyond interface interaction.
The big question with interfaces is: you are offered nearly unlimited data to augment your reality or to mix in with your reality, but how do you let the machine know which data you want? When you are offered choices, how do you select one?
So far, we have come up with quite a few solutions, from the early joy stick - remember the joy stick? - to the increasingly smart mouse, track pads, watch crowns, on and on until we finally arrived at the eye. That’s state-of-the-art data selection. So what’s the next method of data selection? How will we make choices in the future? The answer: we won’t.
We believe we have come up with something unique that will completely revolutionize MR. We call it:
PIPCI
Post-Interface
Post-Conscious Interaction
It will feel like you’re not even using an interface, and data selection as well as feedback from you to the machine will happen automatically, without you having to do anything.
Because our Digital Iris technology can read your subconscious interpretation of any event by means of your eye movements and pupil dilations. You no longer have to tell the machine what you want - it already knows.
There’s a metaphor we like to make: The Digital Iris can read you in real life like a loving partner. When you want to snack some cheese in front of the TV, he won’t pass you the Cheddar. He knows you hate it. He can tell by your look. He’ll give you some Camembert and some Tillsitter and you’ll only enjoy those. Just from looking at you he knew before you knew.
Our technology offers you only things you want to chose from, in real life. This is radically new and potentially revolutionary.
Here’s what it will NOT look like:
Being overwhelmed by choices, choices and more choices is not a dream, it’s a nightmare. With PIPCI – the name gets better when you hear it more often! – with PIPCI you don’t need to be offered choices your subconscious can make for you.
Thanks to Digital Iris and Eye Hyper-Tracking, we do understand where people look and how they feel, allowing them to receive and send data consciously and subconsciously, entering a dialog with the digital world that is not only hands-free but also highly intuitive. This is Post-Interface, Post-Conscious Interaction. And it is liberating!
How will we use it? Here are a few predictions of ours:
Imagine a large storage system full of boxes with QR codes on them. Normally, they would all look the same. But with our glasses, one QR code visually jumps out at you, because the system already knows what you are looking for and just shows you. Boom! You have within seconds what could have taken you forever to find.
Or let’s dream a little: You enter a room full of strangers. Immediately the glasses read your subconscious reactions to the people you see. And then, before you even consciously notice everyone, the system already points someone out to you: “Go talk to this person! You find them attractive!” And you may be surprised, because you know, your subconscious is faster and more honest than your conscious brain.
And what if we take it even further. What if you then transmitted and shared your subconscious emotions with others? It’s like a real-world Tinder, where you both get alerted that you have a match before you even know it. Shyness, nervousness, insecurity can all be overcome when you are aware of mutual attraction on a subconscious level.
The scenarios go on. And so the eye itself becomes the interface. That’s why we’re all going to go Post Interface. And the mind itself becomes the selector of what is important to me. That’s why we’re all going to go Post-Conscious. And that’s the future of MR.
