What areas of information-related ethics need to be addressed?
Norbert Wiener - the long-ago father of Cybernetics- had an early recognition under Allende in Chile where Stafford Beer implemented some of his ideas (quickly killed off by Pinochet), now, nearly half a century later, there is a fresh resurgence of interest in his wide range of farsighted concerns and ideas (21stcenturewiener.org) as the confluence of cybernetics, social, technical, and philosophical perspectives collide. This has been matched by a rise in public concern over ethics- both professional and personal- in many of the areas of society affected.
Weiner's writings anticipate some of these collisions.
What areas of ethical concern do you think should be addressed in the upcoming conference in Melbourne? And would you be prepared stand up and express them, in RL or virtually?
