VJOncology at BTOG 2023
VJOncology is an open-access video journal, that provides latest updates in the solid tumor space. An important aspect of keeping up-to-date with latest news and best practices is learning from global KOLs and hearing their opinions on latest advances and key issues. VJOncology provides HCPs with a space to find out more about data released at global conferences.
In April, VJOncology attended BTOG 2023 in-person and as usual provided extensive coverage of the conference through video expert interviews, social media, and feature articles. Our VJOncology editorial team, conducted interviews with over 34 HCPs, over 3 days. The short-form video content from BTOG can be found here.
The annual BTOG meeting is a chance for experts from multiple disciplines in lung cancer to come together to discuss and consolidate ideas around best practices on how to advance the treatment of lung cancer in the UK. One of the exciting abstracts presented at the meeting was from the SYSTEMS-2 study. This UK-centric study evaluated standard versus a higher dose of radiotherapy for the treatment of pain in malignant pleural mesothelioma. Although the primary endpoint wasn't met, some incidental findings of improvements in overall survival were observed – and we look forward to hearing more about this data in the future.
During the conference, VJOncology spoke to some of the top faculty from the UK about sessions at the meeting, including updates in therapeutics, radiotherapy, surgery and genomic testing, as well as where we are with lung cancer screening, smoking cessation and supporting patients mental health.
An important part of the Lung Cancer Channel is our Expert Editorial Board. We caught up with editorial board member Professor Sanjay Popat, who gave us his highlights from BTOG, his thoughts on the data from SYSTEMS-2 and where we are with biomarker testing in the UK.
It was also great to hear from him about the collaboration between VJOncology and BTOG: “BTOG are working with VJOncology in a number of joint projects, including round-table discussions and making sure that the messages that our delegates and speakers prepare and deliver here at BTOG and our annual meetings, are disseminated far and wide through their media channels. It is a great collaboration, and we love working with VJOncology.”
We are also highly active on social media – over the period of BTOG we were one of the leading influencers on Twitter in Lung Cancer. We were in the Top 5 for highest impressions and profilic tweeters (see image below) during BTOG 2023.
