Validating Your Version of Xcode

Validating Your Version of Xcode

Hi All,

There was a critical update issued by Apple last evening (Sep 22). Apple has removed few apps from its App Store because they were not built with genuine version of XCode. It is important for all Mac users to validate all the versions of XCode installed your machine.

Refer the following Apple news page for the process. It’s just a single terminal command.

Kindly ensure that if you are uploading the app to iTunesConnect then it should be built with genuine copy of XCode for sure. It is worth checking some recent deliveries to customers in case you find your XCode to be counterfeit and if you created any IPA for their submission.

Further, I am sure there must be few more things to discuss on this topic. I plan to initiate a new thread with limited audience. The target audience being, associates using Mac machines and those responsible for deliveries on iOS. If you have anything to discuss with similar audience then click Apple Issues and press send. I will try to initiate that thread by today afternoon (Sep 23, side effects of composing a mail near midnight) and include you. This will connect us all.

Immediate points of discussion could be:
- Checking if XCode downloaded as DMG from Apple works on other machines.

- If yes, then how to share the XCode installation between associates at same location. Maybe we can have one person download it and share.

- Recent issues in enterprise app store distribution of iOS apps. This one I have encountered today only and it is with iOS 9.
