Turning Ideas into Action: What’s New at TMC People Agency?
Hey there,
This week’s been a whirlwind, and I wanted to share some of the highlights that have got me buzzing.
First up, something I've been itching to get out into the world: a free calculator for our website that estimates potential benefits when you invest in your People Operations. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, "But how do we measure it?" - especially when it comes to well-being and retention.
Well, soon, you won’t have to wait until someone hands in their notice to find out. Keep an eye out for its launch—I promise it’ll be worth the wait.
In other exciting news, I’ve taken on the role of Founders Live Leader in Edinburgh.
After meeting Nick Hughes, the founder and CEO, it just felt right - we both share similar values, have a passion for helping others feel seen and for building something bigger than ourselves.
I’m already in the thick of planning the next Founders Live event, connecting with incubators, and working with local businesses. Trust me, this is going to be the event is going to be awesome.
And if that wasn’t enough, I got published in the Chef and Restaurant Magazine! Shoutout to the team at Tonic - Talent in Hospitality, Conrad Brunton CertRP and Chef Publishing Ltd for this opportunity. The article digs into how to attract, optimise, and retain great staff in the hospitality industry. There’s a longer version on the website, complete with a free downloadable E-book, click here and don’t miss out.
Speaking of the website, while you're there, consider booking an employer brand audit.
An employer brand audit isn’t just about slapping a fresh coat of paint on your job ads—it’s about diving deep into what makes your company tick, how your people feel about working there, and what potential candidates see when they look your way.
In a world where talent has options, how you’re perceived matters more than ever. This audit will help you align your brand with your business goals, ensuring that when people think of where they want to work, your company is at the top of the list.
And let's be real, in today’s market, you can't afford not to make this a priority.

On a more personal note, my dad was in town, wrapping up a classical music tour around Scotland. Yep, you heard that right—my dad, the former opera singer, now leads classical music-themed tours. We caught up over some incredible meals at a spot in Glasgow called Gōst
Now, I’ve eaten at a lot of places, but this one? It’s something special - congrats to Denny Norris and the team.
What really blew me away, though, was the attention to detail. The lighting, the seating, the music—all of it spot on for elevating the experience. From the moment your bum hits the booth seat, you feel exactly where you need to be.
But let’s talk food—because wow. The star of the show for me? You wouldn't believe it, but it's the bread and butter (again, attention to detail). They mix the butter with beef fat, creating this rich, almost sinful spread that you just can’t stop eating.
And the steaks? Incredible. While Dad loved reliving his childhood with an amazing Bernaise sauce, I was dipping my steak in a truffle and parsley butter. I am back in the gym already working that meal off, but it was 1000% worth it.
It’s places like Gost that remind me what a difference great service and a well-thought-out atmosphere can make. It’s inspiring, really, to see a venue that so clearly loves what they do.
Anyway, that’s the latest from me.
Until next time, keep pushing boundaries and never settle for just "good enough."
Cheers,
Matthew Cameron Founder, TMC People Agency
P.S. Let’s make work better together—because when your people thrive, so does your business.
