Trusted AI on HCL Domino with “DominoIQ”
There is no shortage of AI options for organizations to explore on Hyperscaler’s platforms. The question is which AI approach and solution best suits each of a company’s many specific business needs. Before any discussion about the ROI of using AI on their data, organizations need to be resolute in being assured that their data can only be used locally (and not shared to teach other models for other organizations or exposed), and that their data is reliable, i.e., timely, accurate and consistent as the basis of usable AI/ML use cases.
Hence, HCL’s approach to AI needs is aligned with Domino’s Northstar (its guiding principal) for the platform’s evolution, i.e., the most secure platform for sovereign cloud-based, collaboration and rapid application development. This means that we protect the sovereignty, security, and privacy of all data used. This has led us to our goal of delivering the use of a trusted, offline LLM engine built into our forthcoming Domino v14.5 release in the Summer of 2025.
Critical features of DominoIQ include:
The DominoIQ approach ensures many critical benefits to all Domino customers on Domino CCB licenses when they upgrade, namely:
Accessible to all Domino developers, you can enable AI for your apps and data in minutes.
Your data is only processed in your Domino environment and not online with a third-party hyperscaler.
You can analyze any data and attachments in Domino, including Microsoft Office documents and PDFs.
It comes with pre-built Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) support for easy customizability of models.
The ability to leverage and explore available LLM models from Huggingface.co
Support for Llama v3.1, Mistral, Gemma 2 and more over time to meet your needs.
This innovation ensures Domino continues to play a vital role in government and regulated industries as they learn, explore, and deploy the power of AI solutions using offline LLM models and data in Domino. Coupling DominoIQ and Domino with a Sovereign Cloud provider such as IONOS ensures that your data sovereignty is under your control and meets the highest security standards. In all cases, HCL protects the organization’s right to choose your cloud and AI strategy that suits your organization.
While the use cases for DominoIQ are infinite based on the millions of Domino applications and mail users in production today, here are a few areas where it will have an impact:
Personal Productivity - help with translation, summarization and automation of tasks.
Analyzing Unstructured Data - making it easier to discover patterns of interest or specific insight that can't be readily determined by search or queries alone, especially when attachments are included.
Creating or extending existing Domino apps - such as developing applications from a prompt, writing @formula or LotusScipt code.
In summary, the key benefits of DominoIQ for customers, BPs and ISVs include:
Privacy-First AI: AI capabilities that work offline, enabling customers to keep sensitive data within their infrastructure. This includes other Digital Solutions offerings in the Domino+ portfolio over time.
Secure Data Processing: Analyze documents and attachments privately within Domino.
Pre-Built RAG for Fast Customization: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) support allows faster, more adaptable AI customizations, helping organizations build tailored solutions for unique business needs to their usage of the Domino platform.
LLM Model Support: Domino customers can choose the right AI for their industry sector, as well as their specific skills and requirements, from Llama v3.1, Mistral, and Gemma 2.
There's a lot to get excited about with every HCL Domino release. Stay tuned for more news about Domino v14.5 and DominoIQ.
