But today, I'd like to announce a second newsletter dedicated to Analytics!

It will be a simple, to-the-point monthly newsletter that will keep you updated on the most important data analytics news I've exposed in my work and research.

I will summarize the top headlines and do my best to select and share the most relevant vendor product news, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital funding, talent acquisition, and other noteworthy data science and analytics news items.

Last week, Databricks held its annual Data + AI Summit, announcing new capabilities and enhancements to its data warehousing offerings. Among the items disclosed were:

  • Advanced data warehousing and governance capabilities highlight the modern data stack's future.
  • The functionality of Databricks Marketplace and Data Cleanrooms will help the company realize its vision of open and collaborative data sharing.
  • New data engineering optimizations execute batch and streaming data pipelines in the most cost-effective way possible.
  • Enhancements throughout the machine learning lifecycle to simplify MLOps at scale.

Astra Streaming, an advanced, fully-managed messaging and event streaming service built on Apache Pulsar, has been made generally available (GA) by DataStax. Astra Streaming now includes built-in API-level support for Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Java Message Service (JMS), making it simple for enterprises to derive real-time value from their data-in-motion.

Esri released ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Engine, which provides an intuitive, cloud-of-choice capability that works within existing analysis workflows without requiring additional technology or training. As a result, data scientists can perform spatial analysis wherever their Data is stored—in a data lake, a data warehouse, or ArcGIS software—saving the time and cost of moving volumes of data out of cloud environments. The product is a comprehensive library of spatial analytics native to Spark.

Kyligence Zen was announced, an intelligent metrics store platform that aids in aligning business goals and key metrics. The new platform automates data pipelines from data lakes or warehouses to its multidimensional OLAP database to deliver cost-effectively metrics consistency and data trust. Kyligence Zen is built on top of Kyligence's OLAP platform and uses its AI-Augmented engine to identify datasets and metrics automatically.

Tellius collaborates with Databricks on DataLakehouse AI-Powered Analytics. The collaboration allows joint customers to run Tellius natural language search queries and automated insights directly on the Databricks Lakehouse Platform without moving any data. It only takes a few clicks to connect to Delta Lake on Databricks, and then users can perform a natural language search of their unaggregated data to answer their questions.

NVIDIA announced that its NVIDIA AI Enterprise suite of AI and data analytics software is now available in select countries via HPE Greenlake. This arrangement allows organizations to access the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite as an on-premises cloud service from HPE, lowering the risk, duration, effort, and cost for IT staff to build, deploy, and operate an enterprise AI platform.

Dataiku has released Dataiku 11, an update to the company's data science and artificial intelligence platform. This release adds new capabilities for expert teams to deliver more value at scale, allows tech-savvy workers to take on more expansive challenges, makes it easier for non-technical workers to engage with AI, and strengthens AI Governance to ensure projects are robust, transparent, and ready for success at scale.

YugabyteDB 2.15 is now generally available, and a new service, YugabyteDB Voyager, has been introduced. YugabyteDB 2.15 provides a unified platform for engineering and operations teams to run all of their business-critical transactional applications. In addition, the new cloud database migration service YugabyteDB Voyager accelerates cloud-native adoption by making the transition to a distributed database simple and efficient.

Siemens launched Siemens Xcelerator, an open digital business platform, to accelerate digital transformation and value creation for customers of all sizes in the industry, buildings, grids, and mobility. A curated portfolio of internet of things (IoT) enabled hardware, software, and digital services from Siemens and certified third parties; a growing ecosystem of partners; and an evolving marketplace to facilitate interactions and transactions between customers, partners, and developers comprise the platform.

Moxa has introduced the AIG-300 Series of IIoT gateways. AIG-300 gateways provide the connectivity required in distributed and unmanned sites to collect, store, process, and analyze operational data from sensors and other IIoT devices. In addition, they are optimized for seamless integration with the Microsoft Azure IoT Edge computing platform.

Altair Announces the Release of a New Unlimited Data Analytics Appliance. The Altair Unlimited data analytics appliance, built on Dell PowerEdge R750 servers, aims to promote enterprise-wide, data-driven strategies. The Altair Unlimited data analytics appliance comes pre-loaded with the Altair Analytics software package and other solutions such as Altair SLC, Altair SmartWorks Hub, Altair Analytics Workbench, and Altair Access.

Reltio announced several new capabilities for its Connected Data platform that provide timely, accurate, and trusted data to power real-time analytics and operations. In addition, a new interactive dashboard for real-time insights, including data characteristics, patterns, and trends for entities and relationships, has been released.
