Top 5 Don'ts on LinkedIn
[Please note this is not a real Pulse post, it's for my class]
I think LinkedIn can be a scary place. Unlike Facebook and Twitter where after a few drinks and episodes of The Bachelor Australia, everyone feels perfectly comfortable jumping in and putting up online whatever they like, LinkedIn has a menacing atmosphere of your boss looking over your shoulder while you are trying really hard to be grown up and do some work that might get you rent/mortgage money.
So Anyway...
I started writing this Pulse for my LinkedIn class as an example of how to write on Pulse. Then realised I actually had to write the article on Do's and Don'ts as an example of a Listicle. And the fact the opening paragraph should be for those that TL:DR. ;)
So now I'm wondering....
What ARE the top 5's do's and don'ts on LinkedIn? Number one is probably: don't start a Pulse post without having thought out the structure first LOL. I'm sure some would have as number 2 don't use LOL. Right?
Top 5 Don'ts
- Don't be mean/nasty or negative unnecessarily. People coming in half way through a conversation won't know your history, just your tone. Don't do it. Saw someone today getting into a gender politics debate on a LinkedIn status update. Save it for Facebook.
- Fill in your profile. It doesn't have to look like the professional equivalent of an entry into Ms Universe (we all know you want World Peace) but a profile image would be nice.
Homework: Fill in the other 3. (Yes I'm that lazy).
In the Last-ish paragraphs: Key takeaway. Next steps. Ask a question/feedback.
Final paragraph: snappy summary with a CTA. click here for email newsletter/blogpost/course information/download ebook. Clear directive. What should I write here? For more about me go to laurelpapworthtraining.com? Blech surely we can be more subtle with our funnels? If you've got a great example for the students, please leave a note below ;)
[Also try the Social Distribution (P2P channels) of your Social Object (Pulse Post)]Boring: Please share this to someone who may find it useful. Please like and comment if you enjoyed this article. Better: Do you have a great or really terrible example of images in a LinkedIn Pulse article. Best: your Pulse articles of course ;)

Embed Code from Menu on wordpressing bar:
Embed a Video of something not totally boring, hopefully educational/entertaining/aspirational. Not fluffy cats.
Short Link from YouTube doesn't work :
Anyway if you are not a student but read this/commented etc, thanks for playing along. The rest of the class, on to the next (video) lecture!
